Replaced my 10.111 with this one, the 10 1V. With trepidation because the 111 was a crap phone. So figured that Sony would have taken notice of the feedback and made improvements.
Turns out they did and I now have a decent phone, but still obviously not top of the line.
The camera behaves much better but still not as good as my old Oppo. The fingerprint reader behaves much better, the screen behaves better - more sensitive, and with Android 13 it's generally a better feel.
However the main reason I bought this thing is for the battery life. While the 111 had comparitively really good battery life, this 1V is totally outstanding! Well worth trading that against other performance negatives with a mid range phone. Surely this has the longest battery life of any phone on the market?.

Im on 5,5 hours screen on time after a day use,and still have 53 procent left.

Anonymous, 08 Feb 2023I always like Sony Xperia phones and its design, and its th... morenot trying to defend them, I'm really no fanboy but you need to consider lot of things:
-Sony being based in Japan has much higher development costs. mainly due to the fact that Japanese workers simply require higher wages.
-Sony being a Japanese company I'm pretty sure they have some insane requirements that increase the unit/development cost.
-Sony due to having basically 0 market share, do not have the economy of scale, so their phones proportionally cost more just because they produce less, compared to some random chinese manufacturer who makes 10x as many.
-the phone has a couple of features that don't really show up on the spec sheet (GG Victus, really good material and build quality despite being plastic, IP protection, RGB notif led) that make the phone cost more than competitors.
I'm know there are better choices than this phone if you just look at specs, SoC, cameras etc. If you value that more, by all means go for them. I'm just saying there is a value proposition here, even tho it's most definitely not for everyone.

I always like Sony Xperia phones and its design, and its the only one today that still have microSD, headphone jack, and screen without a hole or a notch. But Sony seems to always price their phones quite high comparing to the overall specs and the market.
Overall I quite like this phone but if I need one right now currently 10 IV price at ~$325 I probably spend $50 more and get Xiaomi 12T at ~$375 instead since it have much better SoC and overall specs. Honestly, 10 IV need to reduce the price around ~$100 to be somewhat competitive but not with the 12T but with Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G but still the 11 Lite still a little bit better than 10 IV overall which is quite a sad story for this phone. Seriously whenever I check Sony mid-range phone they always have the price of mid-high to high-end phone's price.

fasih, 05 Feb 2023How's the battery performance? can it lasts two days?Depends on your use ofc, if you literally play or watch videos all day it won't take it, but with average use it should last two days. if you spare it you can stretch it to 3 days even.
I use mine with 80% battery care always (meaning the phone will not charge the battery over 80%) and it lasts around 2 days, but I admit I only use it lightly for messaging, socials, some youtube, 0 gaming.

But why you think everyone wants better refresh rate (say 120Hz) and have less autonomy as a consequence? Screen to body ratio is perfectly fine in order to have this design without a ridiculous notch or punch hole. I am glad Sony is not following the mainstream.

For those who say the camera quality of the phone is bad, there's an app called Snap Camera HDR that fully improves the picture resolution to the point where it completely reduces the noise of the image, which is a huge upgrade over the stock camera.

i accidentally drop the phone 3 times and still doesnt have dents or scratch. yes i have casing but still is a miracle because the drop was about 10 feet. this phone is very durable and long lasting battery

Installed gcam and the photo quality improved a lot.. it is giving flagship level photos now. Sony must improve its camera app.. they are still in 2013 level.. they give best hardware but lack in software quality.. gcam made my xperia a true flagship

I just can't understand that much newer phone for the same money has so much worse camera. Due to camera I returned the phone. It's a deal breaker for me. If it would cost 150£ I would probably not complain but it costs 350£ which is ripoff from Sony

Sony needs to upgrade on things like the display, the refresh rate, the screen to body ratio, the brightness, the software features,the speakers,the cameras and so many more

surprisingly, the 13 update seems to have made the phone a bit snappier, or at least the animations are now really smooth.
one thing I feel like its a step backwards is the fingerprint sensor, it used to be super reliable but now it happens that it doesn't pick up on first touch.

Guys 1 tip,i hated the camera of this phone,but now i am using gcam and its a difference from day and night.
The pictures now wins many times of my mother s22 its simply amazing.
