IQ200, 18 May 2024I don't hate Sony.
I want them to be more competit... moreI've seen so many comments from people who have experienced 90Hz or 120 or 144hz and they say they can't go back. So totally understandable.
However majority have not or still buy iphones for a lot more than $400. I am one of them. I care more about battery life than 144hz.

I want them to be more competit... moreYou're missing the point, the target audience aren't people who are into high refresh rates.
There are no practical uses for high refresh rate screens. Gaming phones and that's is it.
For this price you get solid build quality, great battery, SD card support and headphone jack.
You have Chinese phones with questionable quality and support. Bloatware and spyware included.

Smaja, 18 May 2024At this price point why do you care about refresh rate?
Mo... moreI don't hate Sony.
I want them to be more competitive. Sorry, but I think most people already had some phone with refresh rates above 60 and when they turn back to 60 that feels slow.
This can be an option mostly for people who still have a really old phone when 60Hz was a standard. But it's not anymore. And please don't start mentioning the basic iPhone's as an example. They are Apple. They have iOS. Fluidity on basic iPhone's 60Hz compared to any Android with 60Hz is almost like comparing night and day.
In my opinion, 60Hz is just not acceptable for a 400€ Android phone.
But let's just put that a side and talk about what you getting for the price compared to Samsung shall we?
I am a Sony fan too, so what? So I must just say good things and never critisize anything?
Maybe that's the main issue, maybe Sony is living in echo chamber and listens to only their fans who sweet talk them and invite them to go back to some other markets. Mostly developing countries. Hey! Wake up! Sony Xperia's are dying breed in mobile space and they need to calculate each phone they sold. They can't risk with offering their phones to developing countries. Even Samsung with their specially tailored phone versions are struggling in these markets.
Maybe, I don't know nothing. Just expressing my thoughts in right place to do just that. For me personally, this mid-ranger should have at least 90Hz, and with its specs should be more affordable, that's it.
My 2 cents.
Cheers.

At this price point why do you care about refresh rate?
Most of the content you watch is from 20 - 60 fps.
People who buy this phone don't care about that stuff. The battery and quality is what matters here. Sony phones, especially 10s are popular in Europe. So there are people that buy these phones.
Stop that hate on Sony.

justasmile, 17 May 2024I think it's fair, but you can't call that '... moreI'd say it's still a long support for a mid-ranger.
Especially an entry level mid-ranger.
How many brands is there to offer more then 3+1 for their mid-rangers?
Fyi; I know Samsung and Google other then Fairphone are the only ones offering a 7 years of sw support. I even mentioned how this year's Xperia 10 has a sw support of last year's Pixel's with only difference in one year less of sw. But you are right.
That was so last year. Lol.

ProG4merPlus, 18 May 2024Is it me or Xperia 10 series are the worst midrange phones ... moreYeah, and the battery.
Battery life on Xperia's 1 and 10 VI are among the best in class if not THE best.
In case of 10 VI that's pretty much all you get better then what others have, oh and no-punch hole screen and SD memory card slot too. Everything else is below average and in Sony fashion, too expensive.
I mean... I have Xperia 1 V and when I compare it with the newer Xperia 1 VI, I can't escape the feeling that phone is being way too overpriced for what is offering, but at least you can feel you're getting something with that price as it has some special things noone else have. But this one? Their mid-rangers are really hard to buy. You really have to be a HC Sony fan.
With Galaxy A34 level of specs and pricing of a Galaxy A55 this phone will have a hard time. Not to mention all those Chinese alternatives with miles better specs.
My only question is ... Why 60Hz display? For the 6th time in a row with only 60Hz. Why?
More then 60Hz is a standard in Android world.
Even the cheapest and most entry level phones are having at least 90Hz refresh rate.
Sony.. you're so stubborn. Wake up!

I rarely change phones, but this is a special one for sure, personally for good reasons: somewhat compact, light, 5G, IP68, meets minimum memory requirements (8GB / 128GB), microSD card slot, 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers, great battery life... only if it had FM radio, a little smaller and cheaper, it would be perfect for me, but then again, with current market oversaturated with similar phones, it's very hard to find a decent compact phone... using Phone Finder, with all these features and from 2024, only 10 VI and Sharp Sharp Aquos sense8 (only Android 13 and no stereo speakers, though...), but the Sharp seems impossible to get outside of Japan.

Probably the first phone I'll buy after 5 years with my Samsung A40, it's very promising.

I do not own this phone but could buy it in the future. Looking at the spec sheet, it seems to be comparable to the samsung galaxy a54 that i used to own, and that seemed ok to me, as a light user that doesnt play games on phones. 60hz screen or 90hz or 120hz dont matter much if you mainly use google made apps most of the time.
