If Sony takes 30min to charge to 50% then it is charging at 1C rate (1 times Capacity)
If a phone takes 15min to charge to 50% it charges at 2C. These batteries are most likely designed to discharge up to a 10C rate (no phone will discharge over 1C) so why would you think its good for the battery to charge at a very high rate. (its very bad for it in fact) In the RC forums, people have lipo that discharge up to 100C, but they avoid charging the batteries faster than 10% of discharge current.

Also I mentioned before (in an older post) that when the battery reaches a certain temperature (45C about 113F) the charging circuit reduces current. (after playing intense games) No phone will charge faster than 1C regardless of what they claim if the battery is hot.

Fast charge is like VTEC for Hondas (I don't drive a Honda, LOL). The engineers created an engine that can rev 1-2K higher than other brands. Yes, VTEC works and adds extra performance, but constantly being in high RPM isn't good for the engine. It generates alot of extra heat, engine wear increases, and the risk of damaging valves increase.
Same with batteries, heat accelerates the degradation of the battery. Unless you replace the phone or battery within 1-2 years, The battery capacitance will greatly decrease.

Fast charge is nice when you actually need it, but you should NEVER fast charge when you don't. The company doesn't care about the longevity of their products, They want you to buy a new one as soon as you get frustrated from something breaking.

Don't even bothering comparing it to Oppo which destroys it by getting you upto 92% in 30min and 50% in 12-13min.
Heck OnePlus has way faster wireless charging than Sony's wired charging.

I'm asking because I don't have any problems with the GPS system in the XPERIA 1. For me, at least where I live, its been flawless.

Is it because where you live, you prefer the better GPS system? (I looked it up on how it works, its definitely an upgrade)

Even after the release of OnePlus 8 pro, Xperia 1 ii's offerings look pretty solid. My only concerns are battery life and charging speed and the capability of that fingerprint scanner.

All of us would probably agree on the fact that Sony's marketing has been the worst in past couple of years. It hardly comes to the consumer's hearings unless anyone seeks for it's products (Even Youtube's recommendations don't find it ). Regarding that, the Xperia 1 ii is a great success for Sony able to create a huge hype around it. (460+ Loves on GSMArena as of now). This one will be for sure unique. Hope Sony doesn't disappoint us.

And majority of those drops were from decent to great heights. Once my phone went flying a distance of 6feet and dropped flat on concrete ground and was not damaged functionally at all it only got one scratch from that drop. It was insanely durable unlike other Gorilla Glass models it was Dragontrail. Insanely durable sad XPERIA had to switch to Gorilla to save money. Dragontrail was expensive made by Asahi compared to Corning's offering of Gorilla series. Yes both were based on same base tech but produced in completely different methods making them stand apart from each other in many ways.
It only broke because I dropped heavy metal object on it and bad luck the sharp edge of it struck directly on the front screen. Funny enough the display LCD was undamaged and was clearly visible only thing not working was the touch functionality. Still I was able to recover entire data from it before I laid it to rest.

Andrius, 15 Apr 2020Yeah right, sounds like a lieTrust me Z series was that good specially when it comes to smoothness. I myself used Z1 for 6Yrs straight. Never once I needed to reset the phone or switch it off even once because of its non responsiveness. The only thing that went down to half-life was battery(NOTE: it was not completely dead like other brands which majority end up dead if used continuously for that long period of time). It was smooth as hell and never lagged once. Yes I accept load times were slower in comparison to 2017-19 models but it never lagged even once or caused any kind of stutter in games no matter how intensive they were. That my friend is a fact. That is why we respect and love SONY that much even though it throws crap at us from time to time. When it does right it destroys competition.
