5040 x 2160 is 5K already.

When you record a 16:9 video (no matter if sensor is 3:2 or 4:3) you use all pixels horizontally. Then to achive 21:9 you need to cut vertically because you cannot go wider.

Also, if the screen was not 4K, youtube app for android would limit the phone to QHD.

4K category starts from 3840 x 1080 ...

    21:9 is 16:9 plus 5:9 in the width. now go figure.
    a QHD 21:9 monitor in market is 3440x1440 (21.5:9 actually)
    how can you call 3840x1644 a 4k 21:9 LOL
    if you don't understand any of these or previous simple examples don't bother replying back again mate.

      we are not talking about a crop of a movie we are talking about a display standard called 4k there is not such thing as 5k 4k is referred to UHD not just any width that is 4k. if vertical pixels aren't fit in standard it's not 4k anymore. you didn't understand anything about examples i gave about how 21:9 must have more pixels than 16:9? nothing at all?
      we have some 4k movies at 3840x2160p like mission impossible fallout so you are wrong bro. only 2.4 crop movies are watchable without scaling in that phone resolution and imax movies all are down scaled with big black bars on left and right side.
      tell me how 4k imax movies at 2160 vertical pixels fit inside 1700 vertical pixels without down scaling the movie instead of showing it in true resolution. a 4k display that can't show a 4k content lol. a big lol actually.
      i gave a simple example of IMAX crop and you answer without reading. go research about monitor resolutions that i previously mentioned as well as IMAX movies.

        There was in increase in sales last year. For this year, we live to see.

How great this model is, the best camera, Sales will skyrocket, etc, etc. But every year, its a failure, and less sales every year. 2020 will be the same again.

We are talking about moving subject... moreBro, it can capture 3 different frames for hdr in a single shot which eliminates ghosting while regular Bayer sensors would show ghosting coz they need time to capture 3 different frames where the subject moves.

              Also no professional will see camera scores as the judging factor to decide a camera.
              You use it and then compare it with other smartphones :) Decie yourself on your Knowledge. There's no Standard.

It's 5k or 2160p in 21:9 aspect ratio. When you say a screen is 4k, then it has about 4000 pixels in height. But when you say a screen is 2160p UHD, it has 2160 pixels in width. This phone has 4k 21:9 display, but it's not 2160p in 21:9 aspect ratio.

                      Actually any cinema wide 4k presentation is 3840x1640, all 4k movie content is that resolution, and is an established 4k standard.
                      2160p at 21:9 would be 5k Standard as you mentioned it as well.
                      Tech sites/persons really should know this kind of thing.

                        some by a BIG mistake say this is 21:9 so that's why. i say nope.
                        a 21:9 display has more pixels than 16:9 not less!! this is the important part
                        a 4k 21:9 display is a 5040x2160 display.
                        a qhd 21:9 is 3440 x 1440 which has same vertical as qhd 2560x1440 but more width!
                        a fhd 21:9 is 2560×1080 which again has same vertical as fhd 1920x1080 but more width.
                        all products on market follow this naming standard.
                        a 21:9 aspect ratio has more pixels than a 16:9 not less! 1644 x 3840 can never be called 4k until it got 2160 vertical pixels simply.
                        a more simple example you will never be able to watch a 4k imax movie on it without down scaling!!!! because simply 2160 won't fit there . this is not 4k.
                        now if company for marketing purposes is using the 4k 21:9 name doesn't mean anything
                        yep you can watch 4k 2.4 AR movies when they are cropped but not a full crop imax 4k without down scaling.
                        this phone has a bit more pixels than our QHD 21:9 monitors on the market which are 3440 x 1440 and way too less to a 4k 21:9 display which would be 5040x2160 .
