Last year it would be great, now its just like non ultra version of flagship. Its great but not awesome. Still time before release, maybe will something change.

It's looking to be a great device! Return of the headphone jack (DSEE ultimate upsaling of mp3 to near lossless audio), front facing stereo, no notch/ cut-out. But most importantly the camera has largely improved, I believe same sensor size as S20U 9 in 1 binning for 108MP (at this point a gimmick). Zeiss branding, best autofocus in the market & alpha technology. Loving it so far! Plus the 4K HDR BT2020 coverage, no words suffice- as no other manufacturer offers that.

In overall assessment, this phone ... moreit is part of a defensive mechanism, of people who really want to have a hands on an xperia... but not all xperia users are proud about xperia, midrange users who thought it is a flagship has some bitterness... but not everyone... there are some who still love xperia despite having just a midrange... i dont usually upgrade, heck stucked at z5 premium... but i have no more reasons not to upgrade aside from all my xperias are still working (except that miro lags, z1 compact has reduced battery power)... there are some rooms for improvement, yes, like any other brands do... and it seems that every xperia flagship caters to different person, for instance xperia 1 and xperia 1 II has differences that makes you choose only 1 depending on what you prefer... like xperia 1 has superslomo, 1 II does not... xperia 1 II has audio jack, 1 has none... so in my case i prefer xperia 1... but if i can have an access of xperia xz2 premium or xz premium, i am still ok with it...

Flgshp2020, 29 Feb 2020Why ditch the dram? Sony won't be able to do 960fps @1080p... mores20 can only do 720p slowmo for some reason which leads me to believe that they don't have dram either but are instead utilizing cpu for it. We shall see

Goddamn that form factor. So sleek and thin. Can't believe it is only 0.2mm thicker than my Xperia XZ1 too. Definitely a upgrade from XZ1, front dual speaker is back with jack too. Fingerprint scanner on the side is really fast and nice to use on XZ1 so expect this one will too

In overall assessment, this phone is ahead of the Galaxy S20+ for the same price point, and there are a lot of reasons for it.
Anyone who knows Sony phones will tell you how awesome of an experience it is to use Xperias, but since your pride with Samsung is dominating, you definitely wouldn't listen at all, so I guess there's no point arguing with such a fanboy like you :))

Sony won't be able to do 960fps @1080p... moreBragging rights is this cam setup has all the bells and whistles of a Sonys DSLR like alpha mark II mirorrless camera. Which is way above just adding higher res or fps to cameras, as the competition offers right now...
Even if they didnt keep 960fps slo mo, which may not be the case at all, as they had it last 3 gens so just stopped promoting it as a new feature, same as 3D creator...
... this cam setup with 20 AF/AE, 70% sensor AF area, 2K 120 fps, and 60 fps 4K 10 bit HDR video has all the bragging rights it needs
They just may be not the same bragging rights as some of the competitors...
And IMO, this is the mobile cam setup win of 2020.

Not to forget that most smartphones have Sony camera technology.

Sensor is Gen6 , most modern manucturing process Sony has.
For example imx686 is gen2 while imx400 is gen3.
Sensor itself can do super slowmotion.
Newer sensors have faster readout even without dram compared to older sensors. Imx677 can do 23MP 50fps and 4K120, something imx400/445 cant do.
It's choice. Why do you think nobody has 4K90 when sensor and cpu can support? Matter of choice.
I know people at Sony ....
