Exyvia, 27 Feb 2020I have a 144Hz gaming monitor at home, and don't mind going... moreHey buddy, 144hz non touch screen monitor gives you difference in experience only during games.
But on a smartphone, the entire operational input is touch, it's a huge difference.
Come back and talk to me after you have used a 120hz phone as a daily driver for 3 weeks.

Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020"And I bet you all them users try 120hz out once, and go ba... moreI have a 144Hz gaming monitor at home, and don't mind going back to 60Hz - still using these with my laptop/phone and work monitors.

The general public not going waste energy caring about aesthetics only. I don't even see the benefits of a higher display besides it looking smoother, unless you're a competitive gamer.

It's nice to have but not a deal breaker.
Same with the 4k Display, basically aesthetics too - nice to have but barely going to notice the difference.

Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020"And I bet you all them users try 120hz out once, and go ba... moreSame thing people claim for a 4k screen.
But, they dont mind going back to 2k or fHD either, if it saves battery.

Either way, 4k with 90 hz equivalent blur reduction, as seen on TVs, is great stuff on mobile. Once you try it, you can never go back to lesser. Right?

Tann Hauser, 26 Feb 2020If I remember correctly, all other can do 120 hz only at fH... more"And I bet you all them users try 120hz out once, and go back to 60 hz quickly, cause 15% battery drain is quite a lot for that somewhat gimmicky feature"

This must happen in your fantasy world coz once you use a 120hz display with 240hz touch sampling rate, you never go back. I couldn't go back to the s10 (one of the best if not the best displays on the market) after using the 120hz on ROG 2.
No one goes back to 60hz again.

All the time I see, people settling for 60hz are simply the same ppl who never used a 120hz display as their daily driver.

Scarface007, 26 Feb 2020No it doesn't, less than 10-15% battery drain on devices op... moreIf I remember correctly, all other can do 120 hz only at fHD res.
And I bet you all them users try 120hz out once, and go back to 60 hz quickly, cause 15% battery drain is quite a lot for that somewhat gimmicky feature.

90hz eqivalent at 4k/or any other res screen, without any significant battery drain, is a gimmicky win/win solution for that gimmicky feat IMO.

Hope they do the same on Xperia5 mark II fHD screen. Same effect but no excessive battery drainer...

LOL, 26 Feb 2020Native 90Hz would have drained the battery even more. An... moreNo it doesn't, less than 10-15% battery drain on devices operating @120hz vs them operating @60hz.
Sony simply not giving higher refresh rate like other manufacturers.
And charging similar prices is simply a recipe for disaster. No wonder their marketshare is dropping.

Check it out in real world, 10x hybrid optical pics look fantastic. 30x is pretty usable, 100x is gimmicky and you'll get blurred results.

Your garbage iPhone 11 pro crops from main sensor in low light to give you zoom. S20 ultra pics from telephoto lens are actually usable in low light. Other manufacturers (Huawei) which gave 5x optical zoom, the samples are just terrible in low light.

Why sensor size still 1/1.7" while Sony sold their 1/1.3" to Oppo and Huawei?

Where are the bigger sensors of the cameras?
Out of 3 cameras all 3 are with 12 mp and now other brands are coming with 4 cameras with 24, 32 and so on mega pixels per camera and Sony sticks with 12 mp sensors...

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2020Sony Thailand says it has UFS 3.0 and LPDDR5...Wouldnt be surprised if its true.
So far, only this site put a UFS2.1 spec on sheet, but dont know where they got that spec data from.
Official spec data says only UFS, no specified version.

Anyhow it doesnt matter at all if its 2.1 or 3.0, it will do the job either way.
