Also they don't offer that much manual control over the camera like Sony does. If you like the other phones more buy them, but understand that not every person is like you.

guys in simple word...
1) sony is phone who will last longer then other phones,... because they are selling durable expensive products.
2) +you pay for technology, sony manufacture their own hileigh end over expensive professional cameras, tvs and other own hi end technologies. apple just buying parts from other companies,
if you want long lasr durability + hi tech, go sony otherwise buy anything else

Obviously what sony is offering here is not for normal user. If one reads the most of the comments here, they will definitely able to decide themselves what's good for them.

Not because the Sony is a bad phone but because he obviously is not going to use the best features the Sony offers. That is not to say that there is no reason to get the sony as you so crudely put it. Given the correct interests and uses by a given user this phone is the better choice

ArG, 28 May 2020Hey guys. I'm not professional in photography's options and... moreNo reason to get the Xperia 1 II at all. In fact, after having produced phones for so long, Sony has not really keep up on producing phones people want, only more to satisfy themselves. Skip this phone and go for Samsung / Huawei.
I am not like many fanbois here. I used to be Samsung's fan (Note 2), but I decided to go with Oneplus 3 when it is time to upgrade. Loved the phone, but due to non expandable storage, bought a LG V20 (worst decision ever) and now using a Huawei Mate 20 X.
Don't fall for fanboism. If you look carefully, this phone's main sensor at 1/1.7" is not that great at all. It is the same as my Mate 20 X launched 1.5 years ago. Unless you are the early adopter type, don't bother with Sony. Their time has pass. Let them produce great phones for at least 2 years, before jumping in.

Smithravi, 28 May 2020Here are the samples from DPR taken by Xperia 1 II:
https:... moreBefore someone commenting back
The blur on one/two particular shots could be simply maybe he might have shook a little bit or it could also be dog is too fast for that picture. He also have other dog pictures where it is moving and has no blur. Judging a mobile capability based on one picture is BAD.
PS:They can be adjusted with ISO/SS/Exposure/WB/dedicated modes (P/S/M) given in the app. He has taken according to his likes. You can take according to your liking. That's what is all about having CONTROL where other "smart brands" fail.

Those are the natural colours I want to store in my mobile. Not some fancy AI pics.
Those pictures on good lighting (Especially Dog pics and its fur) are excellent. Good details and nice colours according to me.

RishiGuru, 27 May 2020From what I heard the name of this phone is to be prounced ... moreI am curious how these people pronounce % or #.
" ii " can be read as "mark 2", if those people don't know why not don't listen the full video on introduction.

Anonymous, 26 May 2020That is all fair enough, no complaints. however if you have... moreWhen it comes to watching movies & videos on a smartphone, the width of the display becomes the most significant factor for me. Next comes quality, density & aspect ratio of the display. A wider display will show much bigger characters in a movie which in turn helps my eyes to identify the micro details of a character in much more detail. A motion picture is always in motion and our brains gets much less time to process in real time than say a still picture. This is where a wider display plays a big role. The very reason why big televisions exists in first place is because it shows much bigger characters and a more immersive experience comes by default. Size does matter.
I have proper sized hands and have no issues using big and wider phones with wider displays. I prefer big displays. It that sense Vivo NEX S is currently my best companion for watching multimedia. This phone was launched in India back in 2018 for $675. The phone comes with a near border-less, notch-less, 6.6 inch, Samsung AMOLED FullHD+ panel with 388 ppi pixel density. It has more pixel density than my eyes can process. With a 19.3:9 aspect ratio this AMOLED panel has a display width of 7.1 mm while being 6 inches tall.
Playing 21:9 cinematic movies will cause black side bars but that can be easily mitigated by any good video player to go to full screen mode. Of-course now some cropping will take place in extreme left and right, but our eyes are almost always glued to the subject which almost always remains near center.
If I watch the same video say in Sony Xperia 1 II, in full screen mode there will be no cropping and no black bars. The Xperia's 21:9 display is as tall as NEX's 6 inches, but now we are dealing with much smaller 6.5 mm display width. A difference of 7.1 - 6.5 = 0.6 mm width is huge in smartphone space as the characters will now appear much smaller but with higher 643 ppi pixel density which no human eyes are able to differentiate from 388 ppi of NEX.
An analogy will be Vivo NEX S have a similar display width of an older 5.7 inch (16:9) display while that of Xperia 1 II is of a 5.2 inch (16:9) display. In multimedia and movies their is big chance of the good quality 5.7 inch display with over 300 ppi pixel density winning just due to the real estate available over the smaller 5.2 inch display with even higher pixel density.
But then again that was me and my preferences. Others may vary.

I personally don't think motion blur will use up all of the extra battery. It won't compete against the best endurance phones but it will easily get most users through the day I would have thought judging by previous models I have had

So according to a battery test conducted by a Japanese reviewer. Daily battery life on Xperia 1 II is not bad as well as not phenomenal as well (given that extra 800mah from previous device). So battery life is more like Xperia 1. Probably because of that 90hz MBR.

ArG, 28 May 2020Hey guys. I'm not professional in photography's options and... moreTry to think of it this way: if everything on a phone can be marked from 0 to 10 (screen, camera, etc.) The Samsung would get very high marks on all, a good all round phone that will do everything very well, a bit like an iPhone but android. But possibly not the absolute best at anything. Let's say 9/10 on everything. The Sony will give you a more customed experience, a few 10s mixed in with some 8s. It will depend on if you are willing to take 4k over refresh rate, if you will sacrifice better sound over more screen to phone ratio. How you use the camera and knowledge of photography. They will both be fine phones but they are expensive so you might as well but the most perfect one for you. And the fact that you are asking for reasons to buy the Sony probably points you more in the direction of the Samsung. Just my way of looking at it

Hey guys. I'm not professional in photography's options and important specifications for photo. But I think MegaPixel very famous and important.
So this is my important question :
WHY SHOULD I BUY THIS PHONE INSTEAD OF FOR EXAMPLE GALAXY 20 OR HUAWEI P40 ALTHOUGH THEY ARE ALMOST SAME PRICE!!?
would you please give some reasons to me? Because I'm really love Sony's products.
And will be appreciated if give me some website to learn meaning of photo options like PDAF or f/1.7, 24mm (wide), 1/1.7" or 1/3.4", 1.0µm
Thank you so much

e0ne199, 28 May 2020hello, i was an xperia fan and i have 2 xperia phones, Z5 ... moreI am personally happy with Sony. The 3 I have had (xperia s, z1 and xz premium) all worked fine, the battery has lasted, and except the z1 (which I dropped from a great hight) I have only changed them when I consider technology has moved on enough to warrant a change (5g being my next excuse) I also had a Palm pre which was good for its time. The only smartphone I have had that had problems was an LG g5, but I am not going to say the phone is no good because I have friends who have had it almost 4 years and is still working fine. So possibly I was just unlucky with a faulty model.
The rest of your argument sounds to me like a conspiracy theory. Sony paying people to say good things. They don't even pay for advertisements.

e0ne199, 28 May 2020hello, i was an xperia fan and i have 2 xperia phones, Z5 ... moreWhy is my Z5 only broken after 4 years of torturing it.
My family bought 2 Xperia Z5 Dual when it was newly released. Nothing wrong happened in the two first years, fast speed, beautiful screen, excelent speakers, and good batery life enough to surpass iPhone. I use one and dropped it alot, mostly from the pocket when i do exercise (about 1 meter high). My brother use another and it dropped into ponds alot, it only took him a little swim to find it back then use it as normal, also he REALLY LIKES to bring the phone with him into the bathroom, it has waterproof so no worries. The next two years, my phone started to downgrade because of dropping too much, overheat occured when i play MOBA for too long (about 2.5 hours), while my brother's not likely having those issues. My phone only dead when it's battery was drained out suddenly and cannot turn on anymore. My brother's Z5 still live on for one more year before the screen malfunctioned, it can still turn on, everything still work but the touchscreen is broken. My family brought the two Z5 to the store so they could take the screen from mine to replace my brother's but they can't because it was too old and they don't know how to fix it (how noob). Now there is no hope to fuse those two, my brother bought XZ2 and now using it, meanwhile i don't have much money left so i have to buy the L1 which is used to type this comment. So don't even try to complain about Xperia's quality with someone who used it long enough like me. You can hear others complain about Xperia quality, all those case when was asked: "where did you buy it?" most of them bought it from untrusted sellers or repurchaced used phones which quality can't be guaranteed. I wasalso bought a fake iPhone, looks like real product but the quality is a disaster.
In the end, Sony still stands out in terms of durability and longetivity.
Ignore this comment and you are a Sony hater who know nothing but saying meaningless words of hate, or you are the one who want to start a war in this comment section. It's a battlefield here already, so your act of war is just a common sense, hater.
