notafanboy, 30 Jun 2021Those features are useless to me just like they are useless... more21:9 > 19:9-20.5:9 any day of the week. I'm not saying you like the other aspect ratios I listed but at least there IS content in that ratio and nothing on the other ones.

As the guys below me said, it's all subjective. I'm getting the phone when it's available in the US and I'm going to try to get used to it until something else comes up. But as Baka mentioned, this is the only phone with headphone jack, MicroSD card, and front facing stereo speakers that can be used in the US (other than the Galaxy A52 kind of but I will never support hypocritical companies so that's a no for me).

    Do a side by side hardware comparison and you will see that NO OTHER OEM has front facing stereo speakers, WITH a 3.5 headphone jack, WITH a notification LED, with a few other unique pieces of tech too numerous to mention here. DO you not realize that the only reason "they" can charge a little less...and it is very little less, is by REMOVING these necessary hardware features? Your opinion that these Sony phones are overpriced is faulty at best, and shows your ignorance.

Sony has very natural never over processed images they don't like over saturated, over blown and processed like Huawei, Samsung etc. Your opinion on them being better is not factually correct.

            notafanboy, 30 Jun 2021Those features are useless to me just like they are useless... moreI mean headphone jack is a convenient feature, I can still use the old earphone design with the jack since I hate how the new earbuds drill into my ear and at the same time not worry about battery. I can still use wireless, but having that jack gives me space to charge and listen at the same time. I like to keep all my photos on my SD card, and I take a lot of photos on my phone so this is a benefit, but I wouldn't call it a useless feature.

            The 21:9 aspect ratio is weird at first, but I got used to it pretty fast. I read a lot on my phone (articles/manga/etc) and that tall aspect ratio helps in that regard. Holding the phone is more comfortable than the 18:9 of the XZ2 Premium. I feel like phones now are too wide, so this is a more comfortable design. You don't like it and that's fair, it's a subjective area. That doesn't necessarily make it a con tho.

              "more comfortable design to hold" the TV remote design? Personally I don't like it, and I find it to be a gimmick simply because most content online isn't even available in 21:9 aspect ratio. Netflix has some 21:9 content but the list is rather small.

Like Sony flagships have headphone jacks and SD slots, more comfortable design to hold, and other things that flagships nowadays are omitting.

The difference is minimal. Sometimes the Sony us better, sometimes it is worse. The cameras are excellent, the computational part is worse. But if you are unable to use manual mode to Equal and Excell the computational photography of other phones then that is on your lack of knowledge not on the camera. No matter your knowledge you aren't going to beat the 20fps exposure and focus that the Sony brings you. And no matter your knowledge you aren't going to outzoom the 280mm optical on the s21 with your Sony.

                                Anonymous, 28 Jun 2021These Xperia phones just get better and better every year. ... more- Xperias are well known to have from decent to good battery life with tiny batteries (many factors involved here). I'm pretty sure X1III has quite good battery life even in 4K-120HZ mode. Curious to see if Sony engineers manage to squeeze bigger battery in this relatively compact phone next year.
                                - From what I know front camera is already improved, but will wait for a proper review. Personally I don't use it that much, especially when I can make selfies with the main cam by using shutter button. What I'm more interested about is continuous optical zoom instead of 2 fixed optical focal lengths. Would have been nice to have for example 50 mm + 70 mm + 105 mm and all in-between values as optical zoom. Would have been great in my opinion.

                                    That's to be expected because Qualcomm releases a new chipset every year.
                                    - Increase battery life
                                    Also to be expected as Li-ion batteries get denser and denser
                                    - Improve inward-facing camera
                                    This one is rumored but they should be using a Sony Exmor RS sensor instead of Samcrap

                                      These Xperia phones just get better and better every year. It looks like the 1 III is not quite perfect, but it was so close that I bet the 1 IV might actually get there. They're probably going to

                                      - Move away from the 888 (fixing overheating problems)
                                      - Increase battery life
                                      - Improve inward-facing camera

                                      That would make it the perfect phone for me. One feature that would be an absolute dream for me that I'd absolutely adore would be if they replaced the google assistant button with a slider for the variable zoom lens (allowing continuous zoom with physical controls).

But why not get a life and just debate the good and bad things about a phone you are actually going to buy or are considering buying?
