It was a great phone for a year, then it started having critical storage errors, boot loops, and application lag.
Bone stock, out of the box firmware XQ-DQ54 model. No side loaded apps.
Going to miss the camera, 3.5mm, expandable storage, and the high PPI screen.

Sony should just copy the nubia red magic:
1- make the camera under display
2- Add Alert slider
3- Move volume rockers to the middle left (Similar to Nothing Phone 2 & 2a)
4- Make a playstation app/interface + make a PS controller case
5- Make the bezels symmetrical

people actually wanna do more things on the phone than just being limited on using camera, which is why most people will end up with other phones.
I don't feel like price justifies what I can do with this phone, or perhaps I will...after waiting for few years until the price goes down to more reasonable level.

Using X1V since Aug 2023 and goes well so far. No lagging at all after 1 and a half years. Nice job Sony. But you wont's earn much if you made your product over robust. Love this brand and please stay strong.

This will be my last Sony phone. XZ Premium was a terrible phone. The Xperia Pro-i had nothing but issues. Now the Xperia 1V whilst I haven't had any issues, it's just an underperforming phone that had no right to cost the price it released as. Even bundling it with XM5 headphones.
I understand that it does have the 3.5mm headphone jack and MicroSD slot. However, the charging speed, bezels, lacklustre battery life and otherwise really disappointing camera. All the combine to make the phone really look like a 5 year old phone next to my wife's new Pixel 9 Pro XL. I never thought I'd actually be praising Google but the P9PXL smokes my Xperia 1V in every single respect. Not getting the new refined camera app the Xperia 1 XI got was also really disappointing and the ported version doesn't work properly.
It was a nice run I guess and the video recording on the Xperia 1V is absolutely ahead of every single other device in terms of video. But I just don't record enough videos. Who has time to go through them anyway. Also I'm just not happy with Sony in general, raising the cost of PS Plus and the PS5 Pro price was ridiculous.

I got Android 15 update on 30th jan. I've only noticed some UI changes but then again I'm not a "power user". Feels good to have updated phone though. Good job Sony.

There are a lot of devices that people are free to choose from.
According to my personal experience, midrange phones can last long depending on the model, usage and perhaps some luck.

Ra, 20 Nov 2024Is it true the SOT fo Xperia 1 V around 12 hours from the b... moreA lot other phones ?Bruh real life battery life I can put my money on sony,never had a more durable battery life on any other phone.If you mean midrange phones or some chineese 1kg phones,obviously if you put 10k MAH batter inside ,it will outlast the 5k one ,even if the phone is total po0p.Have a friend that went for Xperia 10 VI and for real it blow away any other phone out the water when it comes to battery life.SO if 5-10 hours of SoT is not enough for you,I'd recommend you the best phone for long days of use Xperia 10 VI.

To be exact, it's not totally "stock", even Pixel isn't.
But real stock Android is AOSP without proprietary apps.

Ra, 20 Nov 2024Is it true the SOT fo Xperia 1 V around 12 hours from the b... moreI can't say nothing about Xperia 1 VI battery life other then what specs are saying, but I can sadly say that my Xperia 1 V had better battery life when it was on stock Android 13, because I am not a power user, nor a gamer, mostly using socials and browsing through the day, but it could last me easily one and half day with 4.5-5h screen on time if Im not using the camera. But since Android 14 that fell to one day and 3.5-4h of screen time. Im not sure if thats because of Sony or Google, but something is not right. The only saving grace I have is that with Android 15 will be back like it used to be. The phone is in use one year so it shouldnt be from battery wear. Anyways, I suggest you to wait with buying 1 V now, at least until we hear more positives on that note.

About your situation i would say it is the carriers problem. I use to get very bad quality or like 0.1 megapixel videos when i have poor connection even on iPhone with iMessages when everybody else gets the exact high quality video the way was recorded.

Not only the sound is great, but everything - body materials, smoothness, durability, slimness, dark blue color of glass back, every thing is classy and unlike anyother phone.

So I have this phone on Verizon network in the US and I'm curious if anyone else has the same issue that I have? When I receive short videos either from someone with an iPhone or an Android phone, nearly all of the time, even in a group chat when other people get the video just fine, I will get a static image and then an empty audio file, you sent separately. When I talk to google, since I use Google messages, they say the issue must be with the carrier. When I talk to Verizon, they say maybe there's a problem with the phone since it's not one of their recognized and accepted phones. When I talk to sony, they say that it has to be a problem with the messaging app that I use, and they blame google. So everyone points at someone else and no one is able to come up with a solution. The rest of the phone I have no issues with!
