I mean, heck, I'm only 17, but I much prefer wired headphones. The DAC on the Xperia isn't great since they don't use a dedicated one and the quallcomm one hasn't been touched in years, but it's better than any bluetooth stream. I have an LG V60 and god will I miss that Quad DAC when I upgrade to an Xperia...

I am really happy with my Sony 1 V. After having Iphone and Samsung, I am glad I move away of the mainstream. It is amazing I can use any headphone I want..if I forgot or the battery is low in my Bluetooth I can use any wired headphone I want. Design is beautiful and ultra fast and the battery last a lot.

I am audiophile and have expensive wired headphones that love to use with my Sony. Actually, removing the 3.5 was a huge mistake, so what is the problem to have it there, if you want to use it go ahead and if not, is fine too. Aldo, is very useful.

Anonymous, 29 Jan 2024Or even more simple: 1 stands for first in overpriced ra... moreIt's cute that you think a business structuring it's product line in a way that allows it to stay in business despite operating at a very small scale is just being overpriced. But I guess by that definition, so is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, so is the S23 Ultra. Where I live, the 512GB variants of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and Xperia 1 V are 2050$, 1890$, and 1290$ respectively. Idk what sources you're shopping from but generally the Xperia 1 V is hundreds of dollars cheaper than it's competitors. Add in a microSD card to get up to 1TB, the lead widens. iPhone 15 Pro Max 1TB - 2350$ Galaxy S23 Ultra 1TB - 2210$ Xperia 1 V 512GB + 1TB microSD card - 1432$. So now you have a 1.5TB phone, an extra 800$ in your pocket, and uneducated people on the internet are *still* calling it overpriced. Goddamn.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2023Since Xperia flagships last 5 generations is this could be ... moreIt sounds dumb because you don't understand. I'll give a brief explanation, along with examples of Sony cameras.

                          Xperia (A) (B)
                          Where (A) is the series
                          1 = Flagship
5 = Flagship, but smaller, and worse screen
10 = Budget multimedia with a wide zoom range

And (B) is the generation, independent of any factor but what number in the series it is. It is not the Xperia 2 instead of Xperia 1 II, because it is not a new phone. It is an updated and refined version of the previous phone. You'll notice the 1 and 5 series undergo very minor changes generation to generation. Because they're still 1 and 5 respectively. Hence the name. Phones have fewer models so they can afford to use just 2 numbers, but cameras need to use letters too.

                          A7(A)
Hybrid camera with a focus on versatility and quality.
                          A7R(A)
                          Resolution and photo first.
                          A7S(A)
Low light performance and video first, in a similar form factor.
                          A7C(A)
Compact with the same high end tech as the A7 series.
                          A7CR(A)
Compact with the resolution and high end features of A7R.

                          A9(A)
Speed and proffessional I/O and features.
                          A1(A)
Resolution and quality, for professionals, no matter the cost.

Where (A) is the generation of the camera. Again, because it's not a new product, the only change to it's name is in generation.

Congrats, you just got a free crash course on Sony cameras, and you now understand naming schemes!

Coming up on a year since my V60 got android 13, no problems... guess we'll see if it magically bricks itself on June 13th. Or maybe the battery will stop holding a charge and I'll have to get an entirely new phone because I forgot repair shops and my own two hands exist. Yes, this would be quite the conundrum indeed.

A long time ago, back when I was just a wee toddler, digital cameras were all the rage. They were expensive though, and so most camera manufacturers opted to use tiny little sensors to drive the cost of the new technology down so they could sell more units and get the necessary profits needed to fund the R&D to get the technology off the ground. Hobbyist photographers though, found that even limited by such small sensors, they could get incredibly detailed photos with very little effort using these cameras. The technology was brought to phones later on, only this time, they used small sensors due to space restraints. Over time, as anything does given enough time and money, the technology improved. They figured out how to resolve 12MP of detail from a smartphone sensor. All the main manufacturers decided they needed more resolution, but Sony stood out from the pack in this regard. They chose to use lower resolution and smaller sensors for a long time, catching up every few years then falling behind again. Despite this, their phones were and are well loved by photographers for the simple reason that they were designed to be cameras first, memory makers and instagram sharers second. Many who do not understand the discrepancy, or indeed do not remember how good the pictures were from those old cameras with so little processing power, bash Sony for being different. Sony was always the same though. They didn't change in a sea of hungry consumers, and it got them a lot of hate from those who didn't understand. For those who do though, they are well loved. Despite their flaws, no other manufacturer takes care of the photographers needs quite like sony. Minimal processing, memory recall, dedicated shutter button, true RAW recording, wired audio input, ability to use as an external monitor... the list goes on, and though it sounds silly to those expecting to be treated the same as samsung treated them, it is not, they simply don't understand. In some form or another, this has always been the case, and it always will be the case. Some don't understand, some do. For nerds like myself though, the best thing to do, though I never do it, is to simply ignore the ignorant.
