It's actually convincing me to use wifi, which I'd pretty much abandoned on a mobile device. If you find a way to improve it, please do let us know. Very interested.

Rknight93, 14 Jun 2024Most people don't need 4K OLED screen on a smartphone ... moreFirst of all. The VI camera isn't any better at all. Look at comparisons. It's basically the exact same thing. Secondly, saying that it has "AI" or whatever doesn't mean the camera is better. It means the software has additional features and that software can come to other models too. Especially if they want the rest of us to train their AI for free.
Everything about the camera is pretty much the exact same. Just because it slightly more accurately recognises dark scenes doesn't make it a better camera. At least not in what I would consider better. It surely doesn't make it worth the upgrade. Besides, it's a pretty big cope to try and argue that people don't "need" a screen with 4K OLED quality. Well I don't "need" AI in my camera software either lmao because I don't want train Sony's AI (or anyone's) and my V takes plenty good photos.
Furthermore you spend 100% of your time on your phone looking at the screen. A lot less time using the camera. The screen should be the highest quality thing on the phone. Numero uno. Everything else is second. When you downgrade the screen like they did on the VI there is no excuse to sell it for the same price the V was. Period.

It's clearly not "VERY BIG DIFFERENCE" more like " a little bit better". But that's normal. No one releases marginally better devices every single year.

Nice phone, but just for thought.
4k resolution is only for photo/video, in other mode the phone is in 2k resolution and its sharpness is lower than other phones with native 2k resolution (this comparison is also on youtube and it's just physics and it's the same with monitors).
Second, look at how much this screen will cost if the phone fails (I think around 500USD just for the screen).

Anonymous, 28 May 2024how does this compare with pro i for photos? It's better than the Pro-i. Simiar camera but this has the full sensor size whereas the Pro-i had to sacrifice some of the sensor. You can compare the cameras a bit more closely yourself. There's also some Youtube comparisons too.

Fred, 23 May 2024I've had it for a little less than a year now and hone... moreHi, I had the 1iv and I was waiting to see what the 1vi was going to be like spec wise, I had heard all of the rumours about the screen being 2k which it is not even that! And the aspect ratio changing, so I made up my mind if it does have these in my opinion downgrades then I would buy the 1v instead. So after seeing the final spec sheet I did just that, Now I think Sony have already realised their mistake and are already dropping the price by 20%!!!! And it isn't even available to buy yet! Iv seen the usual price drop of the 1v after the 1vi was announced but I have noticed the 1v starting to rise in price on some places that were cheaper beforehand. I have a fairly large family they usually buy what I buy or sometimes a different model but even they couldn't believe what Sony has done. Yes it has a new chip but because I am coming from the 1iv the 1v is a big upgrade for me, I usually change my phone every two years, this is because there is not enough of a difference between them every year to justify the change. So I'm really happy with my new 1v and I won't be buying the 1vi or Sony unless they go back to 4k etc, sorry to rant on lol.

If you seriously wanted to convince people you didn't care, you're long past that point mate and should have stopped replying a long time ago.
Hey everyone, should we tell this guy how much better music sounds with the 3.5mm headphone jack? He's probably still using airpods lmao.
Btw, we both know you read every word. :) Guy like you who checks the comments routinely hangs on every single word. Wouldn't be surprised if you're on Reddit 14 hours a day.

I've had it for a little less than a year now and honestly I love it.
Side-fingerprint is a must have for me, it's snappy.
The camera is tricky to use, I'm not a big expert and it certainly has a learning curve. Sometimes the default settings of the camera make it take stunning pictures that are much more photorealistic and aesthetically pleasing than the pictures I've seen come out of Samsung and iPhones. That said, sometimes the contrast and the lightning make it take pics that look honestly mediocre. I'd recommend buying it with the expectation of slowly learning how to use the camera.
The microSD tray is heaven to expand storage and I plan to get that extra TB from it eventually, especially since 4K shooting means a lot of space is taken up if you shoot a lot of videos.
The flashlight is kinda weak. Every other flashlight I used on a phone felt like a beam from God but this one is really tame in comparison.
The screen is great. The brightness goes up to the right point. I'd like the max to be a bit brighter to see better in blazing sun brightness.
The back of the phone is nice for the texture, unfortunately I don't use it without a cover cause I don't want to risk anything.
The dedicated camera shutter button is incredibly, incredibly useful. Saved me many times when I had gloves on, and it feels good to use.
In terms of battery, I feel like it's a bit short, even more so than my last phone, but that's probably caused by me keeping it at 120Hz and it being a 4K display, so I guess that's the tradeoff.
I wish it came with a cable. Those things are destroyed quickly unlike powerbricks.
The signal, for me, is mid. My last phone got better service, and the internet feels pretty slow. Geographically I am in Italy and my operator is WINDTRE. I have 5G, but it is slower than my Huawei P20's 4G.
Speakers are really powerful.
It's incredibly light, especially without cover.
In terms of processor power I have no qualms.
There are a few reoccurring bugs that I've encountered that require restarts, so the OS feels somewhat unpolished.
Thank fuck it has a jack. It's the biggest saving grace. I can't be bothered to charge my earpods, so I'm glad I can avoid having multiple earpods. That was what bothered me the most about my P20.
Overall satisfied. I can't say I like the price point I bought it at (1170eur). For the current price I would recommend it wholeheartedly. It does everything, and the niche uses are a pretty active part of the experience (jack and sd, camera shutter button). Application support is not overly lacking but just behind other phone brands'.
