What's so great about software update? Can you feel any difference between android 12, 13 and now 14 is coming out? I feel bug fixes are much more important than bragging about newer and newer versions of OS.

Samsung phones slow down a lot after the 2nd android update and by the 3rd it's ridiculously slow, 4 or 5 years of software updates are just a marketing tool. Personally I think sony is doing enough although they could just try for a 3 upgrade policy

I read some many complains and jibber-jabbers about Sony's smartphones. But if iPhones release a new (same) phone almost everyone is amazed... Stop giving yourself a bad lifetime, If you don't like personally then don't buy it and that's it.... Buy your own love brand phones. I personally love Sony's phones, yeah some phones are not quite good, like others brand did happened also before. I already did buy this phone and I'm waiting to arrive in my hands and use it. I did have to pay extra money for the charger like 10$ (big deal) and I didn't mind at all... Also the phone is coming with a Sony Earphone, and Face Tracking Holder and the phone case cover and the glass for the screen... Btw the version that I bought is the 512 GB one and I'm planning to put a MicroSDXC memory to expand it to 1TB and the 512 GB... And I'm so excited about it.... PS: Writing from the XZ2 Premium (using since 2018)

1300$ doesn't had adaptive refresh rate? Damn sony always outdated, remember when phone had 4000mah since 2015 and sony started using it in 2020, always slow inovation.

You listed many things ordinary Joe would want on a phone, but Xperia is not an ordinary phone for ordinary people. It's far from perfect, just as any other phone.
And btw google dxomark camera results until 2017. for l Sony and Samsung. They were on top spots. Look for the commenting rules before writing a comment and use them lol...

Looks good. Probably I will order it if come with that pair of headset xm5.
I wonder if the battery li-po its better or worst compared with li-ion.
Removing the notification led its a big minus...
Btw, about snapdragon 8 gen 1 the chipset is being(was) fabricated by samsung foundry. That's why it was so bad...

It's much wiser to wait and buy the 5v. You'll essentially get all the features for significantly less price with compactness and better battey life due to sensible 1080p display. You'll probably miss out on continuous zoom but honestly it's a gimmick at this point. I do hope they give a 5x telephoto instead of a 3x on 5v.
5v would be closest it's gets to the perfect phone. TSMC chip with headphone jack, microSD card, notification LED, decent camera, decent UI, no notch, front facing stereo speakers, decent battery, ip65, ip68, compact etc. Honestly you could just keep using it for rest of your life! Good thing is that by next year it's price would reduce significantly. Don't worry, 8 gen 2 will remain a decent chip even after 5 years, just like 865 is still going strong.
