Is there a way in sony 4k phones to select 2k resolution instead of 4k? Or only options are full hd and 4k?

Doze mo... moreDoze mode is like 7 years old at this point and RAM Plus isn't a new feature, it's literally rebranded zRAM/swap which has been in phones even longer than doze mode. The thing is, new Android versions *used to* give actual new features and they used to improve performance too, but nowadays it feels like Google has run out of new ideas for actually good Android features as have the OEMs with ideas for their Android skins.
You could use Android 10 nowadays and not miss out on any major features, and it's even faster on most phones.

Doze mode, suspend execution of cached apps, ram plus and many other features appeared during past years. Some features you can't see clearly but they are trying to improve your experience more and more. Can I feel difference between these android version? 12 and 13 not so much but 12 and 14 I can feel it. I hope one day sony will release at least 3 major OS upgrades to their flagships. Then I highly consider it. Otherwise It looks like this is very good phone.

I'm glad Sony has not given up on the U.S. market. As long as they keep making phones and staying true to who they are I'll support them. My Xperia 5 IV is great even after all the negative reviews on overheating issues. I think reviewers getting pre production models give premature thoughts before updates and other reviewers piggy back. Sometimes it's best for consumers to test out products themselves and ignore the narrative of YouTubers.

The 5 V isn't about being cheaper, it's about being smaller but packing most of the same tech. If you prefer compact phones sure, but I like big phones. I'd rather a 1 V any day.

It saddens me that i wi... moreDon't read this comment section too much which honestly makes one think only Sony phones are ridiculously priced when in reality its all OEM. Sony flagships are as expensive and flagships of other brands. They just don't spend as much on marketing that's why you don't see adverts everywhere when there's a sale on offer. But just do a search on Google. Also, get the 5v (once released lol), which is essentially same phone but more practical due to being more compact, 1080p screen and no moving telephoto lenses and obviously cheaper. Wait few months after release then it's much cheaper than release price.

NeverPayOver1000eur, 16 May 2023Well nice thing about Xperia phones if you want to buy one,... moreI believe if you wait even 2 years to get the 5v, even then it's worth the wait. Because, you just wouldn't find a flagship phone with headphone jack and microSD card anymore. 8 gen 2 is good for many years from now.

What's so great about software update? Can you feel any difference between android 12, 13 and now 14 is coming out? I feel bug fixes are much more important than bragging about newer and newer versions of OS.

Samsung phones slow down a lot after the 2nd android update and by the 3rd it's ridiculously slow, 4 or 5 years of software updates are just a marketing tool. Personally I think sony is doing enough although they could just try for a 3 upgrade policy
