If they use it, the phone would've been better: battery life can be extended, production can be cheaper, speed is faster.

I have a Note 10 now but looking at the phones that Sony is making, I might switch back to Sony in a few years

Even if this phone was $500, would still sell less than s20.
Price has zero to do with sales, otherwise nobody would buy iphone anymore.
Huawei charges much more than Xiaomi and OnePlus for flagships, but sell much more.

And knowing Sony I won't be surprised if they put quality components and squeeze everything from hardware. So it will perform better than phones with UFS 3.1
