Where is this phone made? China? Previous most Sony products were made in Japan. I can't find any source to verify. If anyone knows- Thanks
The phone is only available through carriers in the UK at the moment. Unlocked it is only available as a EU model. 10/13/21

The best thing about this phone is that it has a 3.5 mm jack and an sd card slot.

I hope Best buy puts out a demo model as they typically do for the first 2 months or so.
Would be nice to play around with it a bit before purchase.
For true compact users - we need to see how it feels in the hand before investing!

Nothing special about Sony I've own a few Sony hp before.. It just has a high price without excellent performance.. 🙄🙄

This is a decent flagship. Nothing exceptional, just okay.

This phone is great (as usual from Sony). There's always hype surrounding Sony phones, but then Sony actually delivers on their promises, and the product itself is always thrilling to use. Pretty sure an old Xperia could take better pictures than Samsung's newest offerings. They're just that great.
One of the good things about this phone is the rather compact size, but of course they went with the 21:9 aspect ratio making it feel like a cool little cinema, so even that is very good.

This phone is bad (as usual from Sony). There's always hype surrounding Sony phones, but then Sony ruins everything by releasing the phone like 6 months later, and the product itself is always disappointing. Pretty sure an old S7 Edge could take better pictures than Sony's newest offerings. Just bad.
The only good thing about this phone is the rather compact size, but of course they went with the moronic 21:9 aspect ratio, so even that is not very good.

Kydrok, 09 Oct 2021No notch, no punch hole, headphone jack, micro sd Ahh Sony... moreI forgot to mention there's ACTUALLY a charger in the box
Yes, in 2021, a charger is something you shouldn't take for granted anymore when buying an expensive phone

It's very nice, but almost identical to the previous model Sony 5 II

No notch, no punch hole, headphone jack, micro sd
Ahh Sony, if only you still sold phones in my country, would have been my new option and away from all these notches and punch holes

Back here again to comment on the lack of 5G mmwave bands in the specs. Sony's dev team needs some intrapreneurship or strategic renewal. Why do they even both making phones if they can't compete with the latest at their release times... all of the Xperia phone's body possess some of the sleekest styles. Android and Microsoft Launcher are both so pleasant to navigate and to look at. Subtle yet immersive touches throughout the UI like Xperia Loops, Alpha time-changing wallpapers, and even the side-mounted fingerprint reader are huge differentiators. But they need to keep up with the times more accurately. It feels like they don't even care to try, but I know they could gain a bigger following if they deliver everything consumers want within $1200 like Apple and Samsung. They are not far from being the greatest.

Is there any legitimacy to the Exp. release 2021, October 09?..

There's no &q... moreEvery single review or media article regarding this phone emphasizes thsat Sony is calling this a "Compact" phone because it's basically the Xperia 1 iii but in slightly smaller size dimensions - minus a few things... i.e. making it compact. So that is what the original post is referring to. But you are right... the word Compact is not part of the phone's name. It's merely just a marketing claim. The height of the phone throws the Compactness off, otherwise, width and depth are pretty decent.. Anyways, we should be ranting about why this phone still isn't released. :/

So far there's no issue in day to day usage. If you are scared of overheating why not get the Xperia 5 II which has almost the same specs but with the snapdragon 865 that stays much cooler?
