This is the smallest Sony is offering now? I just want a new Xperia that doesn't look like a wood plank stuffed into my pocket.

Thanks for the inches but the radio. The memory is good and the battery your latest

I barely find any 18:9 to 20.5 :9 aspect content out there, so I see absolutely no rational reason for that aspect range on phones.

that 2500 xperia pro is not even just a phone, if you read enough on xperia threads or just the release videos about xperia pro, you would know what is it for, certainly not somebody who just wants a regular phone, if you have not watched it, look for it to learn, unless you are not interested, but that wont clear you up about the price...
as for the usage and "keeping" of the phone, that is practical and i agree...
but i have different ways regarding that... for instance, my first xperia phone, miro, served me for 3 years as a personal phone and work phone... z1 compact served me 4 years as a personal phone, before upgrading to xz2 compact... my work phone is quite shorter... z3, z5 premium, then 1 ii...
so with that, longevity is really important to me...
i still have all those phones, all working good, except for z1 compact which already has a weak battery... for years of usage, that is expected... utilizing my older phones for other stuff, also minimizes overusing my current personal and work phones less, like, i can use those as my desktop clock, alarm, music, portable wifi hotspot...
with that and more reasons, i prefer phones that works longer and reliable, i found that on xperia...
i have other brands too, as part of my collection, but cannot take the role of being a personal phone and work phone...
in the end, i am thankful that sony is being sony, from their design language to their camera system, i liked how they are "conservative" on their approaches...

As I'm in a shopping process for an affordable flagship, I looked over Sony Xperia models and I cannot fork that much money for a set o medium-improved parameters. The screen ratio is not optimal at 21:9, movies are not in this format and effectively the screen is not used optimally. The battery is bellow competition. The camera department is not stellar, it's just maybe above average of each class, but for a premium price. The reviews show that Sony gets worst images from THEIR OWN SENSORS THAN COMPETITION, so it's matter of software processing. I don't understand Sony designers, maybe they know better what japanese want, but not what the rest of the world wants.
When I buy a phone I think about how much money I spend for two years worth of usage, because that's the statistical lifetime of a device. After that it's either thrown away, or resold to somebody that cannot afford a new device, but in the case of a phone the battery is less than 70% capacity, so why would you buy it? Think about this when you spend extra on 256GB internal flash instead of 128GB, you throw away anyway that flash memory, while an SD card can be used in the new device. All in all, Sony designs devices like they don't want the average user to buy them. Their sells numbers are animal, I don't understand why they are still in the smartphone business anyway. 2500 euros for a phone? Insanity at its best.

I used to have Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime in the past and satisfied. But let us enjoy our Xperia. I mean, we're satisfied with Sony because the last two generations of Xperia have been the last OEMs to fulfill every basic phone specs like headphone jack, MicroSD slot, front-firing stereo speakers, camera shutter button, no-notch with exception of L4 and Ace II, even notification LED after LG journey ended. You get the point here.
