iwil, 08 Jan 2020if it were 5 inch and 16:9 or 18:9 I would buy it no matter... moreThose small phones always had battery issues or had to be thick, in a way being taller and not wider or thicker is the best solution. Also you don't get a notch but thin top and bottom bezels which look way better.
There's a non plus version of this phone, it's only 6.1" same processor but the battery capacity pays for the smaller size.

Even that number is shrinking year after year there are still some people who love Sony mobile phones. Every brand has their loyal fans, because every brand has something unique and people used to use those features. For example; There are some people who don't want to have same car, same snickers or same cell phone as half of their neighborhood. That's why is great we have so many choices. Sony is not a typical cell phone brand. That's the reason why I like them. I don't want to be an average Joe. There is nothing wrong with being average Joe and choosing your best for buck product, for example Realme or Xiaomi, but that's not me. Call me special or stupid if you want, but I refuse to be like everyone else, it is because I choose to. Meaning you don't have to.
Everybody has their own opinions and choices in everything. There goes my 2 cents. I know this comment will be gone and forgotten like... Tears in the rain...

One of t... morenot in my case i still have xperia miro, xperia z1 compact, xperia z3, and xperia z5 premium and my z3 and z5 premium lasts more than a day... these phones doesnt even have battery care tech as qnovo... so, as long as sony creates xperia, id go for it...

The tall screen isn't as uncomfortable as people expect. Remember that this phone is designed by Japan, a country of people with small extremities. The phone is not very wide, making it easy to grip with one hand. It has multitasking features (2 app windows on one screen at once). The experience is nothing like those moronic fablets.

I actually highly doubt that it will be 865. If that were the case then they'd called it something else. I expect this is actually a good phone but an excuse to use up their 855 stock, or a cheap deal on some 855+ would make perfect sense. If the name changes then I'll believe that this is the next generation (2020 generation) of snapdragons, and given this is the Xperia 5, not the flagship 1, it might even be the perfectly acceptable 765 (I'd probably but this if it were such).

You know nothing, side finger scanner is the best option by a long shot, that's why Sony keeps doing it and now some other brands are jumping on the choice as well.

I think their devices should work just fine now, they better be, what likely hasn't improved is the pricing.

This is the most attractive design of all Sony smartphones released of the past 10 year. A real full-screen smartphone with two front-facing speakers can only be achieved with an under-display selfie camera. The presence of two speakers and slimmer bezels partially justifies the design choice.
