Is it matter... moreSome apps may not work on new version of android. it really depends on the app itself, but most of well-known are well-maintained, that to say, they are compatible with multiple versions of android. From my observation, most phones from famous brands, such as Samsung, Sony, HTC, etc, released less than 1 or 2 years ago will most likely get an upgrade to their OS if they are not the latest. So you may purchase a phone with Gingerbread (v2.3) but you can upgrade it after.

Gingerbread 2.3 and older is not a good choice as some of the latest apps on the Play Store requires ICS 4.0 at least, so the apps won't be supported on it. About the HD games, it depends on the processor and the graphic. So, I suggest you to buy an Android phone with ICS 4.0 installed on it and Xperia Go is a good choice. Some units may still on Gingerbread 2.3.6 but don't worry, upgrade to 4.0.4 is now available and Jellybean 4.1 sometime in Q1 2013.

You'll have a better performance (Dual-core Cortex-A9) and graphics, better camera resolution (720p), larger internal storage and the best part is, it is resistant to water and dust so you don't have to worry if you accidentally drop your phone into the water. Go for Xperia Go, trust me.

Hi guys I'm new on android so pls help me out. Is it matter if you have the old version of android like Gingerbread,froyo,eclair etc. Can you still play new games? and can new apps can work in your phone even if you have an old version of android? PLS ANSWER!
