Sony isn't leading at anything in the smart phone market. They are just lagging behind as usual. They are going to be crushed under the feet of the competition. And I'm pretty sure no one wants to buy a smart phone that doesn't come with 4.0 out of the box. Especially since everyone is waiting for it. Sorry, but Sony has lost their way as they were following the real innovators in the smart phone arena. I guess they still believe that people will still shell out money on a piece of crap just as as Sony is stamped on it.

Also, I already own a dual core phone, why would I want to buy another one this late in the game, especially when the quads are going to be much better at conserving batter life than the current dual core devices? Sony is always playing a game of catch up. :-/

Quad-core?! All the phones that MIGHT come out with quad-core processors are yet to be officially announced. Sony announcing this phone does not mean they do not have plans on releasing a quad-core processor smartphone later in the year. The year is still young.
Ice Cream sandwich?! Hey there's a planned, i think FREE upgrade coming up to android 4.0. And for the know, the android 4.0 is hoping to bridge the gap btwn smartphones and tablets running android.
Sony ain't a dumb company like Nokia, RIM and the rest loser companies that don't understand the meaning of producing a phone that can 'stand the test of time'. Sony's Androids are a definition of 'Good Android Smartphones', anytime, anyday. Congrats to sony on their new acquire. Keep conquering new frontiers, I love u guys!!!

AFAIK sony didnt mention that this is their flagship device as there are rumors that some higher models will come out soon like hayabusa and mint, lets just cross our fingers and believe.
sony is the best manufacturer for me, i have use several xperia's and i never get disapointed because quality is great.
since they split up i guess sony could now focus on their mobile phones and hope to see a gaming os on future xperia phones.
CES is on the way lets just wait.

Well, Sony has made the mistake (again!) of releasing a phone that has lower specs than the competition, dual core vs. quad core, and Gingerbread out of the box vs. Ice cream sandwich out of the box. Many people, as myself, already own dual core devices. 1.5 dual core is old news and Sony better hurry up and learn before it's too late. It wasn't Ericsson that was holding Sony back, it was Sony that was holding Ericsson. It's too bad that Sony has bought out Ericsson, because I'm sure that on their own, Ericsson would have been a force to be reckoned with.

I think Sony is better Ericsson phones are crapie,
i've been using ericsson phones since 1999/2000 until 2006 or so and i tell you i wasn't worth it
i'm not sure that sure about Sony products

atleast now that sony owned the whole company . . . It shows big improvement on there handset . . .not like when ericsson still owned half the ownership they where left to far with there competators!

People, before u rush into some Sony crap you should take a look at SE new work. Their model the XPERIA DUO is rumored to come out this year and is definitely worth waiting for. Check it out!

this Sony Phone will rock US smartphones competition. but the way i consider it on TOP as of now.
