sam, 17 Jul 2013i bought this phone before one week... front camera clarity... moreit is really not that good since it is only VGA.. but with right amount of light, you can use it as a mirror..don't try to video call on darkness.. ^_^

Disappointing is the one word.
@ 16k LG p765 known as L9 is better option.
Or more precisely u can go for MMX a116 also known as canvas HD @ 13 k.
What is wrong with Sony ???? Why it is going on path of Samsung ??

I just bought Sony Xperia L smartphone and face... moreTry the touch focus option , perhaps it might help a bit as the primary camera button sometimes is difficult to use ( while we give the button a long press to focus, and wen we eventually hit it for the second tym to take the snap, the phone shakes a bit resulting in a blurry image | happened to me a few times)
I didnt find problem in while trying to focus on things ( dont know about the xU , havent ever used it ) so am not sure how much it differs from xL in terms of focusing capabilites ( also i dont use my xL phone for taking pics :D )
And yeah, dont try too close shots (macro shots).
And would like to add both camera and video quality are not that good.....rather i'll term them as average.
And for issues with Focus, we have to wait for the update from sony as Focus settings are directly dependent on the phones firmware and u cant use 3rd party apps to correct it.

Mayank Soni, 15 Jul 2013why all xl user r facing prbln wid album?????? ths is major... morethese problms are nt in ur phone. these problms are in ur apps and your memory card. jst format ur memory card. and master reset ur phn. wash all data. start everythngfrm beging. evrythng will b go fine
