Good news frens,,, PTCRB approved a new firmware for Xperia
M suggesting the Android 4.3 build version. It has
the build number 15.4.A.0.21 and definitely leaped
from the previous 15.1.C.2.8 that indicates a new
OS version for Xperia M single-SIM running
    Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Its sibling, Xperia M dual running Android 4.2.2
Jelly Bean, got newly certified build version
15.2.A.2.5 leaping from build version 15.5.A.0.16,
    representing new OS.
Hope this new firmware will be offficially available soon with many more tweaks for better.
    until then keep patience........

But 4.1.2 is quite unperformant, 4.2.2 way better...hope 4.3 to be the best!

Also it's very weird that you do not have the blurr on corners by stock camera shots...even though there is more grain than at mines...

Camera should get a good update, it seems that are so many diffrences on system settings, depending by the region's stock, i believe...

I would say the results are fairly consistent with (also 5 megapixels) Xperia U I upgraded from. Get a few quirks around white balance - fluctuates even when set to one of the specific settings rather than auto - but nothing that can't be adjusted afterwards if need be.

I recently bought this device (Xperia M - C1905). I must say am a Sony lover but I'll try to be as objective as I can.
Here's my thorough experience that might be useful:
                  (warning - long post :D)

UI Experience: Running 4.1.2 JB at 1 GB ram, it was slick and smooth. Multitasking is good, no lag. The best you can expect in this price. If you love simplicity, then the Xperia homescreen design is the best for you. You might find that the notification toggles is missing some of the important ones like GPS, screen rotation, etc. I suggest you go for a 3rd party app.

Storage: It comes out of the box with only around 1,3 GB user accessible, but if you uninstall most of the bloatware it can give you additional space up to 200 MB. Don't expect to install heavy games though as it will fill up the space instantly unless you already root it. SD card is recommended.

Battery: Packed with 1700+ mAh battery, it performs quite good, as it goes from 100% to 25% in about a single productive day (12 hours) of moderate-heavy usage with all the power management tools off. I put it to sleep for the night with Wifi on, and I still have 22% in the morning.
I'm a casual user, which means I don't play heavy games often, But i have social accounts stand by in the background the whole time, spend hours a day chatting, browsing occasionally, and taking pictures.

Graphic Performance: I haven't really push this device to the limit of it's graphical capability, but I'm sure with it's Adreno 305-powered GPU, it can handle resource hungry games like Real Racing 3 with no lag. (then again, the small storage is the main problem.)
As far as playing HD movies and casual games, the device handles those operations without any trouble.

Camera: This is the low point of the device. I definitely expected a better camera for a smartphone like xperia M. Both rear and front camera didn't meet my expectations.
The VGA front cam is noticeably not the best vga cam you can find. Even though I just use it for video calling, I definitely expected something better. Ironically, there is a small app feature called Mirror that is far from an actual mirror as you'll find it's too hard even to see your eye color in indoor light.
Now, after some time of using the 5MP rear cam, I found out that it's really not that bad. The actual picture taken is actually better than what you see on the capturing window (probably a software issue, hopefully will be fixed in the next update).
It performs decently in daylight/outdoor use, but full of noise when use in poorly lit indoors (adjusting a lower ISO might help).
Still, you can get the best of it with help of some 3rd party apps. I've included some sample photos you can check out.
The cam also records 720p videos with similar quality of still images, although the continuous autofocus is annoying sometimes.

Heating Problems: Now, this is another not-so-pleasant experience I get with Xperia M. I find that the top half of the device (which I assume is where the powerful GPU is embedded) gets hot pretty quickly. I get that it's normal for a (graphic) processor to get warm by performing heavy tasks, but I didn't expect it to constantly get hotter and hotter as I only use it mostly for social networking and casual apps. Maybe this is not a problem for some users, but to me it's just not that comfortable. Especially if you have to pick up a call and have a long conversation. It won't be easy on-the-ear.
It's still on an acceptable level though.

                  My verdict:
If you don't have a problem with just a decent camera and don't intend to play heavy games, then is is the perfect device for you.
The design is premium, you've got Sony's quality you can rely on, and it's budget-friendly.
If budget is not your problem, than you definitely don't have to consider this one ;)

                  3rd party apps recommended:
                  Camera:
"Ucam for Tablets" (to get the best quality)
"Camera360" (Fixes some noise problem, also effects-rich)

                  Utility:
"Power Toggles" for the lack of notification toggles ;)
"Clean Master" you probably already know what this app does :)
"Smart Voice Recorder" to replace the stock voice recorder. It's just sucks.
"ES File Explorer" because the stock file manager also sucks :D

I feel that the Internet speed is slow when compared to my previous Symbian Nokia phone.
Why is it like that? Is it common with Android phones?

Also, the internal memory of 4 GB for Android is terrible and no option to push apps to memory card legally.
Why did Android restrict this when it is allowed in other versions of Android?

This mobile phone is very good with processing power.
But even the camera and the screen is not very good.
                    I hate Samsung though.

I think I should have waited for Moto G or Nokia X series.

Rooted my C1904 yesterday using framaroot. Gl2SD now works, installed NFS Most Wanted. The game lags occasionally but nothing terrible, the game is playable and the graphics are superb.
