That's why it's called 'Backlit' and TFT means Thin Film Transistor which is used to improve image quality...
But there is difference between IPS LCD and TFT LCD...IPS (In-Plane Switching) display panels provide better viewing angles, power efficient but costs more than TFT LCDs...
