I ordered a Sony Xpedia M5 from DWI 3mths ago it arrived by courier I unpacked it a nice looking phone, I put it on charge and fitted the sim, turning it on I found the battery flat.
I contacted DWI it was returned they sent back a new phone so I fitted the sim after charging but it kept telling me it couldn't find a signal. So I took it to a Telstra store in Wanneroo Western Australia the manager determined the phone only has wifi capabilities. I brought it home and contacted DWI they said send it back. I can't be bothered it has cost me 2 days wages running around.
I will never buy another SONY product

i buy m5 one week later i had problem i took to service center after two days i got new one m5 after 15 days display probem after two days i got again new m5 thanks for supporting customer now it is good

I only used it for 3 weeks. Then it goes something wrong. The screen was moves itself, got some stripes, and turned into mosaic. So i brought it to Xperia centre in my town. After a month it "hospitalized" i ask them again, the answer is they still wait for new machine reservation, because the machine should be changed. But they don't give me time estimated. It's been a month in service centre, but i only used it for 3 weeks. It so sad

M5, 08 Oct 2016Fix for corrupt sd card: Take it out before update to Marsh... moreSir,how can I fix the shutdown issue on the m5 with marshmallow on it? Before in is lollipop I can go to engineering mode and tweak it's bandwidth to fix shutdown issue but now in marshmallow I can't find the engineering code or the selection of bandwidth. Plus help. Thanks

aln, 03 Oct 2016Bad BAd experiences, it keeps shutting down for no reason a... moreI sent my phone to sony service centre. They changed the motherboard and battery. Now my phone is totally fine. No more auto shutdown, battery drain and overheat. Problem solved!

I received my 2nd SONY XPEDIA today the first would not charge so after some drama I sent it back, a replacement phone was sent so not being electronic savvy I took it to a mate at a Telstra shop he went through the menu to find the phone! is a Wi-Fi activated tablet, so tomorrow its on the phone to get some satisfaction. a total waste of time'

Great cameras! Great performance! Crystal clear screen! Only problem I could think of is the battery, 2600mah is never enough for a power hungry phone like this.
I'm an average user (youtube, chrome browsing, social apps, whatsapp and the like).

M5 User, 06 Oct 2016This is a complete waste of MONEY!! Please DO NOT PURCHASE... moreCouldn't agree more! Sony's standards have dropped significantly. I will never again purchase any Sony products. After 9 months my phone died and is irrepairable. Do not buy M4 Aqua as well. After this experience I would be scared to buy any Sony product. Going to try Samsung or Huawei

Screen security issue: It is recommended to factory reset your phone after Marshmallow update.

Alright. Now about problems.
It's battery sucks. Can barely hold 2 days while in STAMINA mode and not in use.
Marshmallow update reduced the heating problem, but it's still present.
Time that it takes to connect to wi-fi is still slow in Marshmallow as for most devices.
Camera might be high in megapixels, but the detail of photos is not.
There might be others, but I either forgot to mention them or simply didn't found any.
Besides there are no custom ROMs for this phone.
Overall the phone is good. I got a MOTO X PLAY ,but before I got it I thought to sell my M5 when X PLAY arrives. It turned out that I want to sell MOTO X as it's too big to hold it in one hand. Therefore M5 is better in size of screen. And on top of that it has one-handed keyboard which is missing from so many 5"+ devices. One thing that I love abot it is that it's still waterproof with charging port being open while most of other XPERIA's not.
It has it's own advantages and disadvantages as every phone does so it's more of a choice which of them you you want.

-Went to sony to replace battery and mother board.. 1 month
2. MARSHMALLOW update!!
Never update if you don't want your memory card corrupted + no screen security.. The hell!!
Up until now, no update.. Better buy other brand such as Samsung, Oppo, etc..
Planning to upgrade to S7 Sony.. Shit this company that's why they are deteriorating..

Been using this phone for few months now. For a mid range phone, it really is a great phone IMO. So far, i've no complaints with this phone.
I usually take underwater photos and videos (which i often brags about :-P)
4k videos... I seldom record more than 15 minutes, so i havent came across overheating (yet)
Battery, usually it lasts me around 12hrs (my normal use. Whatsapp and browsing mostly). If i use it with smartwatch, it usually wont pass 10hrs.
With stamina mode, I can get around 18hrs.
So, IMO..it's worth buying.

Do not purchase, this phone failed. My phone purchased before 6 month. Now that does not work :( I think this is not a water resistant phone, the rain water Harmful for my phone
