Returned it the next day, got another one, again with dead pixels, but this time it was in the corner and really hard to see. So, even Motorola lacks proper QC? I don't think so, I blame the retailer for selling defective phones. Even you faced the same issues, so don't you go blaming Sony. I remember the early batches of S6 had come with scratched displays, lack of QC? And Sony has stopped manufacturing Z1C.Sony cameras are really underrated. People tell very high of the iPhone 6 camera, and critize Xperia Z3+ camera. The truth is, both of them rank same in Dx0mark tests.

Either you are really blind, or the lens of Z1C was really smudged, or you're just a dumb troll. No one with a sane mind would ever tell that M2 has a better camera then Z1C. Are you really that smart to even think that M2 has a better camera? Wow, you're smartness really suprises me. I even took a picture of my keyboard with my Z1C with a 1 meter gap, I could perfectly read it in my computer. Hell, tried it with my Moto G 4G, Nokia E90, and Nokia X3-02, and all passed the test. So please , next time tell a lie that at least sounds convincing.

As I said in the beginning, my only beef with them is they camera post processing - that one sucks. If you fail to see why I'm saying this, then your standards for quality are on the same level as those people who are happy with blurry selfies.
The pictures might look nice on the small phone screen, but looking at them on a PC reveals total lack of details. Hell, I couldn't tell which brand my keyboard was from a photo taken from a distance of about 1m. That's just awful. The Xperia M2 with latest firmware at that time had better detail retention than that.
And the sad part is, it's not the sensor itself, it's the post processing Sony forces on you. Didn't they also not enable RAW capture when they updated to android 5? That's just sad, really.
As for having the same software, I didn't have a Z1 to compare, so as I said I can only compare the GSMArena photos, and those are clearly different. Again, if you can't see the difference, then I'm wasting my time.
Getting two defective Z1C in a row is not just bad luck on my part, it's a sign Sony's QC is lacking. It's not surprising though, considering it's not the newest compact flagship. Sony is more interested in selling the Z3C. The Z1C would have been my perfect phone, but the issues I mentioned are beyond anything I can tolerate.
Coming back to M5: Despite being called a Samsung troll, I'm actually keeping a close eye on every Sony phone that comes out, waiting to get one that fits the bill. I'm hoping there will be a RAW option on the M5 so that I can just avoid Sony's horrible attempts at post-processing.

This happens to every phone on the world, very few people get damaged phones. I had a damaged Z1C, I returned it and got a good one. If what you said is true, then you're just unlucky.

Sony Xperia M5 is pretty cool device but even though is octa-core, it is not selected as a reliable device unlike sony xperia z3 compact and sony xperia z4

And according to Sony, the only difference between Z1 and Z1 Compact is 1. Z1C has lower resolution display, but using new IPS LCD display, so better colours and viewing angles. So yeah, get your facts right next time. Also, tell me how many mini flagship android phones are really a miniature flagship, not a watered down version with worse cameras and processors. And you tell that you got your Z1C made from one of the last batches. Did you get your phone from an offer or something? Because in march I bought my Z1C and that one had many issues like the one you mentioned, along with dead pixels. Turns out they were selling damaged Z1C in the offer. When I returned the damaged Z1C and they gave me a fresh one within 2 weeks. So far no issues. And why I told you're a troll is because you were lying that Z1C had a 'bad' camera. No one ever said that, except you.

That gap there let water in. You could even press on the plastic part and see it close, opening again when you let it go. This one was from 14W44. Another one from the same batch I got as replacement had the same gap, but on the side.
Same sensor, yes. Same software? No, else you would be able to flash the Z1 firmware on Z1C. I have tested the latest firmware that was out for it back then, and the details in the photos were as awful as they are in GSMArena's comparison tool. You can even see the difference between Z1C and Z1 processing in there.
But hey, I'm obviously just hating on Sony without providing any facts whatsoever. Move along, nothing to see here.

But wh... moreI got my Z1C this march, probably one of the last batch (shipped with 4.4.4), and water proofing has no issues. It's OK if you hate Sony, but stop spreading fake information here? You're the only one who told Z1C/Z1 camera is bad. According to all reviews I've seen, Z1C has a good camera, but There is scope for improvement. I own a Z1C, and I agree autofocus is slow, but other than that, its great.
