I have been monitoring how much battery my screen uses up and it is usually less than 5%. The Sony P only saves 50% battery in ideal situations so lets say that overall it saves 25% of 5%. Overall that effect is tiny for the whole battery.
The direct sunlight thing could be good though.

The processor is going to have to be quite magical to make the power saving Sony are talking about (and the smallish battery they opted for).

I have a question about the notification light, if xperia p has it? i mean i been reading that some say it has and some say it does not have it. Can someone for sure clarify this and where you got this info. This is something that i must have and need to know before i preorder this phone.

i like this phone even though it has only 13gb of user usable storage and no sdcard slot (most would complain) u can use usb stick/pendrive using usb adapter no problem...

is this phone's gpu performance as good as sgs2? it has mali-400mp but sgs2 has mali-400mp4. are there a big difference between them?

The S2s are also much wider and also taller.

Rmx, 27 Mar 2012My requirements are listening to music, watching movies , p... moreI agree with Nevin. The Xperia P would be the better option for you. There are 25% more pixels on the screen and the screen is larger so easier to use fingers when playing a game.
I also see the RAM as important. For the Sola to only have 512 and not say 768 or more is going to become a bit of a constraint.

Floating point will start to become standard as ICS supports it means being stuck with the default browser until the solution is incorporated into other browsers under ICS. It only works for the browser and odd wallpaper gimmick they included.

My other issue with the Sola is that for a 3.7" deive it is a bit large but I find that about most 3.7" devices. The processor is very good for a 3.7" device though.

On the hardware side - with its STE U8500 cpu and DB8500 graphics it's actually a re-invented Samsung Galaxy S2 with a slightly higher resolution and a slightly lower clock speed.

Looks like the launcher and browser aren't hardware accelerated. A pity. Thanks to the ARM Mali 400 the native android game performance really nice, though.

The part below the transparent and led illuminated back, home and menu "button area" (touch sensitive as the screen) already feels a little bit wobbly but that's hopefully a problem of the prototype unit only and may not occur on the final hardware. That "tail" is also the reason the phone's case can't be opened and the battery cannot be removed*.

If I had to decide NOW on what to buy, I'd rather still buy a SGS2 or the HTC One S. I'm not sure if I want an even bigger phone such as the HTC One X or the SGS3.

                                      * On a side note, believe me, you don't want to extend your memory using a sd card.
Tried that once with my SGS2. Put ANYTHING on the sd card and your phone slows down... because it has to scan another media storage, because the app drawer has to load an app's icon from the slowest storage available on earth (apart from tape memory). You will hate the lagging, take your sd card out again and put it somewhere you will never find it again. And you will stop using sd cards at all. Ever wondered why apple products don't use them? It has nothing to do with patents... nothing to do with them not being "hip"...

(I wanted to bring the point that you wouldn't add some telescope antennas to get a better signal, would you? But I'm not quite sure some of you wouldn't!) :-P
