It seems that the headphones have become damaged. I have tried another pair and the message nolonger appears. So check to make sure that the headphones are not damaged and try another pair.

Battery can be removed easily. google the tutorial. The back cover slides off, unscrew the screws as shown and carefully lift the other pannel up no more than 60 degrees. then simply pop the battery out.

Great smartphone that is sleek and value for money with good battery life,the xperia S has a stunning 12mp camera with a camera button on the side,it also has a very good interpretation of Androids OS.The speakers/earphones are loud and clear,great for listening to all types of music,videos & decent on phone calls.Even though the S has a very good looking screen,you do need to be fairly head on to view properly.The S connects seamlessly to any/most routers by wifi &,strong 3g signal.The only real downsides are that,the main function buttons(home etc.)are a bit small &,bloatware that come bundled with the phone,ok fine have them but let the owner be able to uninstall any app they want,only possible if you "root" your phone.Quite simply one of the best "all round" smartphones,highly recommended,full marks Sony.
Pros:Screen,Mp3 Player(sound & function),Battery Life,Wifi,Design,Camera,cost,Sony`s fine interpretation of the Android OS.
Cons:Function buttons,Bloatware needs root to uninstalled,Viewing angles.

Unfortunately no!
It has light sensor but, for reasons known only to Sony, it is not used for auto-brightness.
I'd also like to know: WHY?
