XperiaSp™, 04 Dec 2014dude you're being totally unreasonable, you are comparing S... moreBro now i tell you in details why i compared with xperia sp because in the start when xperia sp launch in same price as droid mini has above 420$ price when xperia sp launch ,now after 1.5 year xperia sp cut price down to half 220$ new this all done by sony ,and Motorola droid mini has also price down to 300$ in some stores offers about 250$ in some country , and now the leatest news is verizon discontinue droid mini in verizon contract start 0$ you only going to pay verizon line contract and get driod mini free ,and droid maxx start with 99$ with contract ,so thats why i compared and main reason for compare is xperia sp and droid mini has same hardware chipset same cpu 1.7ghz dual core s4 pro ,same gpu adreno 320, only has ram difference xperia sp has 1gb droid mini has 2gb ram. Can't compare with xperia z because xperia z has 1.5ghz quad core s4 pro cpu, so dual core vs dual core can compare ,but quad core vs dual core is not comparable,

I am also considering nexus 5 (epic chipset and UI but battery life is mediocre), and htc desire 820 (good chipset, UI and speakers but there are complaints coming that it overheats and stuff).

SP is priced below droid mini so of course droid mini should carry a better specs.

Whos says droid mini is laggy or slow and camera is bland if these happen to your droid mini then you get a faulty pice , mine droid mini is perfectly fast smooth and after 4.4.4 update camera quality improved and way batter then xperia sp camera 8mp ,i bought in used here in my country about 135$ and now droid mini pirce is cut down for new ,and i used moto x ,droid ultra ,droid maxx, and droid mini ,all of these has same speed performance same hardware chipset same os and same camera 10mp ,all are fast and smooth no lag no slow down and also has very good touch sensitivity , i like most is touchless control and active notification options ,in all has 2gb ram thats why multitasking is good ,so go for droid 2013 series or moto x its way better then xperia sp . Xperia zr also good but i can say stock android os is faster then xperia zr os ,stock android has less lag then custom android like sony ui ,samsung touch wiz ui ,i find lg g2 custom ui is faster then sony and Samsung and others ui ,my friend has galaxy s5 octa core and his big brother has lg g2 i used both and lg g2 seam to me little faster then s5 octa core .

spaceman_k11, 03 Dec 2014Hey man wanted to know whether xperia zr's performance till... morehmm well i can say xperia ZR is fast and snappy with 4.2, however honestly i don't know if it's as fast as moto X since i haven't touched and used moto X yet. but since moto x is running a stock android version then it may be a bit faster than ZR, but overall ZR is already fast even with sony UI added on it (having 2GB of ram really helps a lot). so I can't complain about that,

-for me i do like 4.3 specially the ability to choose a wide variety of themes but i guess it's your personal preference though.

XperiaSp™, 03 Dec 2014really? is it brand new? where did you get your phone from?... moreHey man wanted to know whether xperia zr's performance till android 4.2 is as fast as the 2013 moto x. Actually the moto x has been discontinued in my country but still wanted to know whether the zr is equally fast (on 4.2) as the feedback I got about the moto x is excellent. Since zr uses a customized interface wanted to know if it is that fast or not. I won't be updating zr beyond 4.2 as I hate the look of the interface from 4.3 onwards (I learnt my lesson with sp and I ignored z ultra for the same reason).

its a cheap 4G droid, but its slow and laggy. Camera is bland. and the battery life is shocking well the one I bought was. Shame on you Sony. theory was good. the practicality is not.

saqi 86, 03 Dec 2014At last i sold my Xperia sp and get snappy moto droid mini ... morereally? is it brand new? where did you get your phone from? last time i checked the phone is still around $399. amazon has it listed for $449 and best buy $599. so I don't think they belong on the same price bracket and thus it's not fair comparing SP to that.

Anonymous, 28 Nov 2014i am planning to buy this phone .... i don't care about the... moreWhile SP is cheap for its listed specs, some things you just can't put on paper, you have to experience them first-hand.

You'll find earspeaker unconfortable during calls. Because of top-most location, the phone's edge will "cut" into your ear exterior.

Main camera is bad, no way around it. Quite awfull quality of pics and vids, even in bright daylight. Don't have to trust me, go to gsmarena's cam comparison tool (especially compare with measly HTC 310 on colour pane). And cam software is poor, hardly any settings beyond basic.

Phone's stock software is appalingly empty. Feature- and options-lacking, with speed being the only upside (which isn't always there). You'll need equal number or more taps and gestures to perform actions than on other phones with other android skin.

Signal strength could be better, it's just below average, IMO.

1GB isn't enough on stock FW. Mandatory Launcher redraws, especially after any web surfing (no matter the browser, I tried with chrome, ff, opera, maxthon,...). And I keep a verrrry neat system, froze and stopped all the background apps & services I could find.

Seriously, there is no room here to list all difficulties this phone has. In fairness, not everything is bad, it has reedeeming characteristics, ofc, but my 2c:

just go with Xiaomi Mi3. It has similar price, but much higher qualities.

But slowly it became worse and by october it became crap. Even though I did a factory reset after that, I didn't see the performance improve this time. I have already decided to root the phone and install cyanogenmod 11 nightly anyway.

Lag is common during normal usage (or because I am a heavy multitasker). The camera is also just average and real racing 3 tends to crash due to less RAM available. I would recommend checking out the 2nd gen moto g, or if you can stretch your budget then you can go for the xperia zr or the 2013 moto x, which are much better phones overall.
