want to install Lineage OS 14.1 for Xperia SP.
Want step by step guide, also with root first. as its not rooted.
will Lineage OS 14.1 work if my phone is model C5303 ?
any help from here will appreciated.

i used this phone since june 2014 till now, and still a good phone, even though this phone drowning in water 5 menit and never gonna bad happen till now, i'm so relieved

Get the ROM from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/orig-development/rom-lineageos-xperia-sp-t3529514
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked. Search YouTube tutorials how to unlock it. Actually, search tutorials about everything, don't do anything on your own, because it can be tricky.
I am a novice at this, and I managed to do it on my own, just make sure to follow the tutorials step by step. It will be worth it in the end.

I have been using this phone with a problem that I've tried so many times to resolve, to no avail. whenever I on my data to browse, the phone starts hanging, try to open apps it will show on the screen. (app not responding) the screen began to freeze, to scroll will be difficult. but when data is off it stops. please I seriously need help about rhis

Could you please share with me the procedure in details or even a relatable link that helped you install the custom rom? I have the same phone rooted of course, with some magic from build.prop commands and apps that help the phone stand on its feet (Xposed for instance). What about custom recovery or kernel software, any details ot problems occured?

Dear god, this is now a brand new phone, fast and smooth. It runs Android 7.1.2
Custom ROMs are the cure for all devices forgotten by the manufacturers. Sony gave up on this phone waaaay too soon. Good thing there is a community of people who give life to these devices.

I agree that this is the worst phone ever if you use the HORRIBLE stock Sony software/ROM. BUT, if you are into computers, learn how to install custom roms, and get Resurrection Remix. https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-sp/development/resurrection-remix-5-0-2-lollipop-lbl-t3170211
Be careful though, don't rush things or you can brick the phone. BUT, if you do it nicely the phone will become a new phone. A pretty good one. With Resurrection Remix (runs on Lollipop) I only noticed that Facebook and Chrome lag a lot, BUT with Facebook Lite and the default phone browser it works super fast, and trust me you are not losing anything by using these two instead.
This is actually my old phone, I never thought I will be able to use it for daily use again, but it looks like I can start again.
Custom ROMs are awesome, just be careful which one you choose, there are many which are full with bugs, so make sure to read the comments before you decide to get one from the XDA forums.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to unlock the bootloader if it is possible on your device.

Usesless and sluggish. Worst phone ever. Has a mind of its own. Freeses frequently. Piece of brick.

I bought an Speria XP in March 2015, a few months later it started to became laggy, slow and bad performance, I even flashed the ROM and avoided updates, but it got even worse (started to freeze and restart once per day).
Far from what Sony wants this product to be, my next one will definitely be a non-Sony!
