This phone is AWESOME. I purchased one from ebay (guy from japan, he fully unlocks the phone by going to the provider and doing hardware lock and then sets the language to english before shipping to you) and this is EXACTLY what I wanted, I been using my iPhone 3GS for over 3 years now and it was pretty beat up so I decided to look for a new phone. ALL THE PHONES are huge nowadays so I kept looking for a week until I found the SX SO-05D Xperia, second phone I ever owned and very happy with my purchase.

The idiots for not releasing in EU we have a niche that needs to be filled and they have a phone to fill it. I have put off buying a smartphone for 2 years because everyone i try is simply too big. I am holding out until this or something similer is released i.e screen size 3.7 or below You found anything else yet?

Got the phone. Everything is great,small,fast, powerful, good battery, light. BUT the Camera absolutely sucks. Only 6MP when shooting in 16x9, and the field of view is extremely narrow. Everything is super close, camera feels like its always zoomed in when its not. Night shots are always awful, day time shots is hit and miss, washed out colours, noise, etc. The auto-focus gets it often gets everything wrong. If camera is not important to you, then its still a good phone.

Ordered this from Japan, for use in europe, and has been using it for 5 months now. Just love it! Perfect size/weight. Came with loads of useless bloatware from original Japanese telco provider Docomo, that was hard to remove. Have it rooted, and removed everything i do not need, and is now getting extremely good batterylife, 2-3 days including 2-3 hours of callng each day, with 60% screen brightness. With brightness at 100% it works in the sun, but that also drains the battery. 60% works in almost all environments. I am missing being able to use LTE, as it only supports Japanese standards, not EU. Not all headset works well with this device. Great sound with all headset, but microphone only works well with one of my four headset. General performance is top. I have 89 apps installed, and lots of them doing sync, but its always responsive, and newer frezess. Only experienced it crashing with my company's internal SoftPhone. Everything else just runs smoothly.

Kinda obvious Sony are reporting major losses over the years. Actions like these are hurting their revenues. In fact, I think these specs are so great that I keep holding on buying a new phone until something comparably decent shows up in my country.... and with me many other people I assure you.
Sony, if only you knew what people really want. It's time for you to teach the world--with an adequate advertising campaign--that real mobility is what matters.
If you have the production capacity, releasing the Xperia SX as your flagship phone will make you smartphone king. No question about it.

I must say, I got this phone without thinking at all (could afford it!). I got it from osoblanco-jp. Excellent communication and rapid delivery - arrived within 2 weeks from Japan, so not much to complain about.
I was looking for a one handed, lightweight phone with all the benifits of an android phone.
For me, the handset is perfect, almost. It does not come with a charger (this is how sony is selling it - its not due to the ebay seller). The other problem is that the screen is extremly fingerprint friendly - much more so than other phones Ive used... i.e. galaxy note and galaxy s 1. Why is this, no idea - maybe its easier to notice because the screen is not OLED. Also, note, if you decide to get this, it needs a micro sim - not a Nano sim as is the case for iphones.
Am I happy - yes. This is a phone that should last me well over 2-3 years finally. A phone that is light, practical and easy to use.
If anyone wants a detailed website review, ask - also ask if there is any specific features you want me to test.

Just got it from Ebay from Japan after thinking a long time. Great phone indeed. Matches only to one hand and quite fast. One thing is it full of japanese apps :). You won't regret buying it. it faster than iphone 5.

Sony h... moreIt is not difficult to find a 'slim' phone, but what matters is making it light having around 100g and also around 3.8" display which makes the phone narrower, making one handed operation easy, and also comfortable in your pocket. This phone has this ideal size with high end specs also.

We need slim phone such as sony ericsson xperia ray. Sony has made this one (xperia sx so) to only japan. if not like to introduce it worldwide, make another slim phone.
