wat the hell sony ....xperia J has same RAM 512mb and 1ghz single core cpu(less hardware) ....than y the hell xperia J getting jellybean but not xperia U :@

the Xperia GO has the same exact specs n features as the XU
chipset, GPU, RAM
yet d GO gets jelly bean but not XU
:-(

I keep my salary 3 months 2 get xperia u, just hoping it will perform great n updated atleast at jelly bean, but what i got now? No jelly bean just ics with many many bugs n lags. Poor me, im thinking 2 sold it, n keep my money another while 4 another brand. I like u sony, i love u actually but nothing lasts forever. Bye sony, bye....no more u

Not too stressed about Jelly Bean personally. Seems the main benefit of it is the Project Butter elements, which focus on perceived interface smoothness, not actual device speed. I would imagine this could be the sticking point for the Xperia U as a relatively high resolution budget device - Project Butter will need lots of memory for graphics buffers and so on, and as we know the Xperia U is already rather borderline even for ICS (though not helped with the amount of cr@pware Sony insist on bundling). Devices with lower resolutions ironically may fare better since their graphics buffers will be less demanding.
My main concern would be that we might be being abandoned by Sony, but hopefully with the number of recent devices affected by this decision there will be some incentive to carry on producing bug fix builds based around 4.0.4. We shall see. Perhaps we might even see Sony's "stripped down" firmware made available, as they have for some other phones?
Anyone here yet successfully updated to 6.1.1.C.1.10 - as distinct from the original "B" ICS version?

In practice 3G signal is usually not as strong as 2G, so 2G generally manages better standby.

Suman, 18 Dec 2012Hi guys, I bought this mobile on last Friday(14-Dec-2012). ... moreDon't worry too much about the low RAM - ICS's memory management is a bit different to GB's, and like all Linux systems it makes best use of whatever memory is there, so don't assume that memory being full is a bad thing. It actually means that apps you have recently used are poised ready to be used again, and will save battery life by not having to be reloaded.
Re the portrait keypad issue, you may like to consider the T9 (classic phone style) keypad option, it works very well.

[deleted post]No jellybean on Xu? Thats bad! Xu is very popular phone and no jellybean will upset thousands! Maybe its because of the ram? Jellybean and even ICS need more than 512mb ram to run smoothly! I can see a lot of Ace 2 owners laughing their socks off! Sony are getting more like samsung used to be! I mean - xperia tipo? Its thicker than lww and has no style! Sort it out Sony because we have not all got the money for expensive devices! We need some good budget - midrange devices like the awsome 2011 series!

Maybe SONY should bring MR.BEAN 2 Xperia U, so all the U users may have a little laugh n smile 4 them.
