Me and my boyfriend had U's for two years and loved them! That LED strip .. Fabulous, how I enjoyed leaving my phone lying around.
Storage space was a big issue though and we had to be fairly organised and going back and forth with stuff on the laptops
Screen was excellent, sharp, fluid, lovely. Could have been brighter though
XDA development was frantic so there's ROMs everywhere, most very excellent, good stable Jelly Beans now, people working on KitKat so we really enjoyed ourselves there - more than we have done with any other phone.
And this is it really - its a hugely capable phone, with great online options - but you have to know how to, at least, root your phone, otherwise you can't stretch it like it wants to be.
We're on S4 and Lg G2 now and still we keep our U's. We appreciate the quality of the screens, the ease of customising, and is build quality. Nothing broke ever.
And that LED bar....ahhhhhh

I really like the size and price of this phone. However there seems to be a bug with the wifi. (google xperia U wifi problems) Sony does not a provide a solution and it appears that there will be no upgrade above android 4.0.4. Consequently I need to do a full reset every couple of months and re-load the operating system which takes a few hours.

This phone is ok except 2 things. 1. If you are receiving an incoming call while you listen any music then the sound will crash.We cant hear any sounds until we re-start the phone. 2)Camera quality is very very poor.Even sony says it has 5 MP but it doesnt have quality of 2 MP camera. Rest are fine with me

... moreIts an old phone already and battery is very bad when wifi is on (excellent battery with wifi off though). Get a newer phone instead, if you want Xperia then get the Xperia L or Xperia C. Not Xperia M, insufficient storage for apps and apps cannot be installed on SD card.
Forget U and M. Go for L or C. good luck.

Big external harddrives will work also since they have their own powersupply but usually they cannot be read since NTFS filesystem is not supported.

And I Want to know how much gb space we can use for storing musics videos .... , and how much gb for installing extra application
and i want to know is there any defects is there for the product from the users
correctly how much time the battery stands , and about camera, touch response , and any kind of hanging probleums

so u th... moreStorage is not a problem if you dont mind using the USB OTG feature of Xperia U :)
All you need is a USB OTG Cable and you can connect it to any Pen Drive :) something other smart phones cannot easily do and considering we get huge capacity pen drives today storage is not actually a problem...
P.S. DO NOT CONNECT WITH EXTERNAL DRIVES OR DEVICES THAT CONSUME EXCESS POWER!!!

aditya, 13 Jan 2014got this from an online store initial impression was great.... moreIn the UK, the Sony service centre (SBE Ltd) was very helpful. It took a little longer than it might have done, because they had to order in a new touchscreen, but they processed it as priority when it was in. Of course will remain to be seen whether the replacement shows the same problems in a few months' time!

got this from an online store initial impression was great.had a little problem earlier while typing sms as it's size is only 3.5inch screen but i got used to very soon so not a big problem,sound quality is cool.but the main reason for which i have decided to write a review is that after a casual use for only a few months or so that touch sensitivity of the set is gone.the touch sensitivity from the left side of the phone is gone.for example if playing chess the pieces on the left side of the board cannot be moved,or when typing a msg the letters on the left side of the hand set doesn't work.i don't know what to do..?now thinking of visiting the sony care centre don't know if they can help me.

Don't ever buy sony phones. Biggest cheaters in the earth. Bought this phone in 2011. Suddenly switched off now. Without SIM card it works flawlessly. When I insert sim, it reboots and screen turns blur. When I approached service center, they said the amount to repair equivalent to 50% of the phone price. Now I'm using it as MP3 player.

This phone is very good... enough memory (4GB), has a good camera.. on viber and skype it has a very good quality :D

zizo, 08 Jan 2014I wanna to return my u to2.3 from 4.0 can any one help me???If you can find the stock 2.3.7 ROM for your region, load it with flashtool. No need to unlock bootloader or root. You may find you get stuck in crash loop with some apps, but this is fixed with a factory reset. Obviously done at own risk - this is officially a service centre operation.

harrison, 06 Jan 2014too bad, this handset is no longer available here in ph,...Whats worse is that the U has no successor, Xperia M has too small internal storage for apps. Can only hope the 4.3 update for M will allow for apps to be installed on SD card, like in Xperia C, but i doubt it.
