I read almost all comments here about 3 months ago but went for this phone. I have been a Sony boy ever since I started using phone- From K750i to K700 to W810i. After reading all bad comments here I have realised that those complaining are those who did the upgrade and those who did not do their research well. 4 Gb is cool for me.
To sum things up, I have this phone and have used it for two months and is running smoothly without any problem.I won't upgrade this phone too.Go for this if you are looking for something less than $ 200.

I've had the device for 6 months now.
The default gingerbread works fine but had too much limitations for me. I upgraded it to ICS, the phone got much slower after a short while (and I try not to overinstall useless apps, I even disabled many of the original sony bloatware with TI). I had to root it because the phone got unusable after 1-2 months in ICS.
After 3 roms I found the 'sweetspot' with much better battery life, smoothness and responsiveness. Still, the low ram on the device makes Greenify and some memory managment app mandatory. If you don't want to get your hands dirty with root permisions and flashing, then you definitively won't get the real potential this device has.

Using for 1 year and it's the WORST PHONE EVER!!! Sony should collect all the phones and return money to the costumers.

instead of buying sony 2011 phones. buy SonyEricsson 2011 phones.if you want to experience best of Sony phones.buy late 2012&2013 models.sony phones are the best right now,i'm using Xperia ZL best phone i have ever use in my life.it has raw power brilliant display.stereo sound audio.people always collect it from me to fill the awesome look of the phone.sony 2013 support all Google apps.

i ve had this phone for a year and i hate it. first of all not enough memory only 4G!!! you cant even add memory which is absolutely rubbish.
if you want a reliable phone do not by this phone it laggs after the first 2 weeks and to stop that you have to turn it off every night! hoping to change phone soon!

have been using this xperia U since 11 months and now my touch screen has become like a resistive one have to press down hard and multiple times to resister now i can't even text with ease have to struggle with every alphabet i press.
and the worst part is i updated it to ics and hangs everytime watever u do answer a call, play games, swip through photos, switch between apps, you as name it whatever it may be it hangs like shit. also camera sucks big time and battery over in 3 hours from 100% and heats up like induction pan.
over all worst experience ever my previous phone samsung galaxy Y was better lame ass software and hardware by sony in so called XPERIA series.
never vl i buy any sony products now .

Thera is an app named "Quiet Balance ", use Google it, download it, installe , open , enable blocking, & re start ur phone, prob solved, :D

The Inbox and Sent Items i havent seen in 5 years and hope i never see them again, what a stupid concept, sorting messages by date instead of grouping them based on the receiver and then sorting by date, how lame was that?
Imagine if the printed phonebook were like that, listings were sorted based on the birthdate of the subscriber? Haha, unthinkable.

Danu, 20 Sep 2013Don't upgrade this phone. because display will not working ... moreCONNECT to sony pc suite via usb - click repair soft ware if need be ..sony pc suite will also tell you if your phone has the latest software -- may offer you upgrade .. if usb connection is not available - click on UPDATE centre on the handset when connected to WIFI.. explore your handset .. u can always factory reset after saving data and back up .. but sony u is NOT bees knees handset .. lags .. misdials .. malfuntions even on basic functions .. DONT GIVE UP ..since you have it- make it work .. down load full user manual and trouble shooting guides via google search .. exploration is the name of the game - for each handset play is the same..apologies "come september " film title song ..

after upgrading my xperia u to ICS, only message tone doesnt working. i hv tried all xperia u latest ICS firmwares (6.1.1.b.1.89 n 6.1.1.b.1.100)
bt no improvement. how can i solve thz without downgrading to GB.....??
