It is really a very good phone , have all the good specifications at mindblowing cheap rates. It is a good phone to buy , i have read some here too .

For the sony Xperia U guys I give ut a thumbs up....its 1ghz processor rocks when combined wid dual core its just a wow...luks at this range u wont a get a btter one specially wid the light effects...cameras of 5mp rear cam wid flash and vga front r too good but not best
Speaking abt the sound yes the speaker is low bt good with the pair of headsets u get...feather touch android 2.3.7 is fine and expandable to Ice-cream Sandwich is good bt I wld rather avoid that....
the most suckin thing of this phone is the battery and if u r one of the heavy user change ur habit a bit...
apps run smoothly no issues cool phone if u get it within 16000 bucks U r lucky and I promise u will neva regret can spend a thousand bucks more go for NEO v. The best thing about this phone is the display, touch. Images are crystal like go bye it now....

I tried all sorts of touches over that portion but it didn't work. The problem occurred on the 2nd day itself when I was trying to unlock using pattern lock and it didn't work. Did you have the same problem as mentioned in the below link?

I have this for almost a month now. All I can say is I was not satisfied with this phone because this phone has LOTS of BUG to fix like ejecting sim card, etc. Sony should release an update to fix this issues.. =(

I had earlier made up my mind on buying a Samsung omnia W...but the xperia U's dual core processor and a damn fantastic color changing strip couldn't make me resist it...I have been using it for more than a month now...here are my findings, I won't mention the specs again as they are available everywhere on the net:
DISPLAY: marvellous...with 282 ppi..The MOBILE BRAVIA ENGINE is impressive...but still it can't match the super AMOLED in omnia W or the super LCD2 in htc one V. But even on the provided screenguard, you get a lot of stray marks on it..dats bcoz of the lack of an oleophobic coating...which sony failed to provide at this price point.
PROCESSOR, RAM AND GPU : blazingly fast..installing and removing apps,multitasking and running 3D games like Temple Run and Trial Xtreme 2 is a cakewalk for the NovaThor dual core processor with 512 MB of RAM and the Mali-400 GPU, just as one would expect.
The device can run 720p videos smoothly, and pinch zoom in videos(in MX player) is even smoother! Although, one would definitely expect a dual-core processor to run 1080p videos too.
I won't forget to mention here that sometimes I get crash errors for live wallpapers and the camera app...and then I gotta restart my fon.
COLOR STRIP- THE DEVICE'S USP : I juz love it...but not everyone does so..and sony hasn't provided you with the option of switching it off, in case you are running out of battery or while travelling. Also, this strip can't act as an sms or missed call reminder...Although there are free apps in the market that let u do both of these tasks easily...I still feel this thing should have been provided from sony beforehand.
CAMERA: takes superb pictures in well-lit environments, but not in the dark. The video quality is good(720p)...but the volume in camera videos is too low..many other users have also complained about this bug..also many a times, my camera app stops responding and gives a message- ERROR- CAMERA NOT AVAILABLE...until I restart the fon...its simply ridiculous and intolerable. One more thing- the camera hardware button is a two step button...the first press goes well, but the second press is so hard that you are bound to get shaky pics, unless of course you use the on-screen capture button(which I always do).
The camera also has a quick launch mode, enabling you to start the camera from a locked device and click a picture within two seconds...This is highly helpful at times.
BATTERY LIFE: lasts about a day...under normal use, nothing much to boast about...but keep in mind that androids are always battery hungry...and the dual core just sucks up the 1300 mAh battery too fast.
LED NOTIFIER FOR MISSED CALLS AND MSGS: this is far too small and pale to be noticed...in simple words- it doesn't fulfil the purpose of its existence.
MEMORY: I dont think 4 gb for multimedia and 2 gb for apps isn't enough...man its a phone..not an IPod or a computer...this phone is not for those who insist on taking their mammoth music collection with them everywhere. Guys, keep in mind that data on the internal storage can be accessed with lesser delay than on a SD card. Perhaps, that is why Sony and all windows phone manufacturers prefer this internal storage thing. Also, to the memory hungry guys, u can always buy a USB-OTG cable and transfer your data to a pen drive. We can even connect a keyboard, mouse or a joystick to this phone!!
HEATING ISSUE: the dual core NovaThor processor shows no mercy on the 1300 mAh battery...leading to the overheating of the fon when running memory intensive apps...seriously, this needs to be taken care of.
BROWSING: smooth and flawless, pinch zoom is a cakewalk!
AUDIO: the loudspeaker volume is a tad too low, but audio quality is fine. The much hyped X-Loud Audio Filter is really not something to boast about, it does not make much difference switching it on or off. Although the audio in the bundled earphones is superb...3 D surround is something to fall in love with.
BOOST CHARGER: I heard that the bundled charger was a 'BOOST' one...which would significantly reduce the charging time. But,to my surprise, it simply did not happen. The phone takes around 95 minutes to charge, leaving you wondering what this boost charging hype is all about.
ICS UPDATE: this phone is gonna get ICS(Android 4.0)in 3rd quarter of 2012,thats what the manufacturer says.
but I am surprised it didn't get out-of-the-box ICS.
COMPARISON WITH HTC ONE V: Xperia U has a better dual-core processor and a better Mali-400 GPU.
Htc one v got a better rear camera, with an option to click pics while recording videos, although dissapoints you with no front camera.
Also, the one v got a bigger screen estate than the xperia U, and Beats audio technology, which is impressive.
Now that you know it all, so the choice is all yours.
I just hope the ICS update will resolve the bugs which are haunting me for a while.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2012I bought this phone this month only and the overall experie... moreHey, I have the same problem in my Xperia U...And I have found a solution...That horizontal patch is a bit more sensitive...So it wont respond to touch with straight finger/thumb...Try touching on that part with inclined finger/thumb & it will work perfectly...Atleast worked for me...Just try it & reply...
