I tried to flash my x compact with generic with Switzerland rom to get rid of docomo apps, but after many attempts, I failed. I used the xperia companion to repair my x compact because it got error while booting up.

Lot of japanese apps which you can uninstall and disable. I got Android 8 update. Become warm while updating.. After then, it is fine. I am looking for small phone and my first choice is Sony Xperia XZ1 compact but it still expensive even refurbished. Feels good to use, small and light.

Bought this used off Ebay a few yrs back and still going strong in late 2020.
Cons;
- The vibration unit is either dying or has come loose from the inner chassis, because every time it vibrates it sounds like...well like a vibration device that's loose inside the case. It's embarrassing lol.
- The square edges. Really Sony?
- Lack of OS/Security updates and the bloatware that you cannot uninstall without rooting the thing.
Pros:
- Relatively powerful for an older, compact phone. I play some 3D mobile games fine with it!
- I don't use it often but the GPS seems to work ok on my device unlike some other users?
- Super compact compared to all the giant phones
- Fingerprint sensor on Global version works great.

Such an amazing smartphone. Still using it in heavy tasks. And battery timing is awesome you can continuously use it on mobile data for 4 to 5 hours. I repeat on mobile data 4 to 5 hours amazing

Good phone if you use phone only a little when outside. It certainly does not replace a computer.
If you only need one device then this is not for you.
If you keep a separate phone for messaging, phonecalls, sms, banking apps, then this is just perfect.
