AnonD-696485, 01 Sep 2017Samjen41 Ha ha i think u dont knw anything about new mobil... moreThere's no issue either you're rich or not. As you already bought an X in this July, that means you spent some money on a phone. I was just saying that you should know abt software update. To be honest you're not getting any update after 7.0 which you could easily skip by trying a different phone. I know that X has no recent version and that's why I's frustrated too until this XA1+ announcement. May be I don't know how a processor works or what is the best combination between a processor and a chipset, but I know something about latest technology and hardware cz it's not that hard to get those knowledge if you follow sites like GSMArena or something else. Their blogs are informative and accurate as well. And finally I also had an X so I believe I at least know something abt this phone. But that's not the case cz then you might go for a Z5 too which is way better than X. But I personally don't support buying old phones cz they lack in software updates which is a priority to me. No phone is perfect and software update releases the bug you face during usage. That is what you'd probably gonna miss as long as you use the X. Android 8 is announced so you could've get an update if your phone had a factory version 7. But it's 6 and that doesn't work. I hope you got my point.

Junker12315, 01 Sep 2017It's just that batterylife is something that should be in a... moreGuess what, if they give you an SD 835 in it and makes it ip68 certified then the regular price should be over $500. And that's boring cz they already have lots of phones in high end line. I really appreciate such a great step for mid rangers. And helio p20 is something you can't notice a major delay. May be 1-2 sec difference in comparison to SD 800 phones. But they're offering you something more that really can reduce your hatred on helio p20. Overall it's a best combination for mid ranger under Sony's tag. This phone has couple of things that can easily beat top flagships. Even s8 doesn't have a wide angle lens and Sony always provides the widest angle ever. The sound quality in my current XA Ultra easily competes any top phone even it has a mono speaker. And Sony has the best noise cancellation technology ever. The display is not as good as Samsung but stays on top 3 for sure. And finally it's an edge display, OMG!!! Get a black version and see how it looks in real life. And now it has a bigger battery as well with a Qnovo fast charging technology. What else you're looking for for $400?

AnonD-556477, 01 Sep 2017So you're saying a mid ranger phone should be below 300 EUR... moreIt's just that batterylife is something that should be in any phone, not only expensive ones, even base tier.
And the helio P20 is hardly a budget chip in the year 2017, they should at least have gone with a helio x20 or p25, this also goes for the XA1 Ultra in my eyes, that should have gotten a helio x25, x20 or snapdragon 626, something along those lines.

I cannot believe it. Sony is giving you 3450 mah battery, fingerprint sensor (which I personally think is completely useless and unnecessary on any phone), itwill have oreo and still people are complaining lol I would only change design, it's too boxy, I mean last few phones literally look the same, I wish its a bit more round like Xa (which I'm a proud owner) and get rid of those side bezzels. Overall, I think it's good phone and can't wait for next year, I'm hoping for Xa2.

AnonD-312196, 01 Sep 2017Why sony won't to change the aperture from f 2.0 to f 1.7 l... morebecause bigger shutter is better (you can capture more light to the picture)...
if you wonder why samsung makes better photos than sony, it's because of photo compress (software) not because shutter or photo sensor (hardware)..
sony has way best hardware solution for mobile cameras (that's why apple, huawei and others use their sensors), but they are really bad at photo compression.

You're not supposed to buy an Xperia X in this July a it's a bit old device for you to buy in 2017. You made a mistake. Never buy a phone that has an older release date more than 4-5 months because you might regret soon as the company is often releasing new devices with lots of updates and latest technologies.

When you buy an iPhone or s8 spending 800 EUR what do you say that? An expensive phone, right? But when you get an OnePlus 5 in 400 EUR that time you really don't want to say it as an expensive phone which is why OnePlus 5 is reputed as budget flagship phone. Now if you can't say 400 EUR that expensive, how could you treat 300 EUR over mid range? Isn't it conflicting?

Anonymous, 31 Aug 2017sony is way behind. they can be the top in camera and in ... moreWell in which sector? Could you please be more specific? If I'm not wrong, Sony is the only company who has 80% waterproof phones among all their products. Even in the rest 20% they don't give an official declaration but they are also splash resistant because they pass the rain test. They have the camera sensor patent, side button fingerprint sensor patent, camera button patent, audio patent and even Qnovo technology patent that holds battery from drying.

Now do you see how behind it looks after my words and lists of their patent numbers? Please show me at least one company who has at least 5 waterproof phones. Even iPhone can't provide you a headphone jack for water resistance purpose and still lacks in
touch performance in the pool or rain. Looking forward to your valuable info that nobody knows yet.

The issue with mediatek is not the chip itself as a whole but its connectivity modems like wifi and calls. It's taking the chip's efficiency out which makes any smartphones with mediatek in it looks bad in battery endurance. It's not the a72/a53 nor the mali gpu's fault. I also suspect the chip's arch like it need some overhaul.

So if Sony used sd600 series, it will attract more buyers. Afterall, Qualcomm started with connectivity services before making mobile chipsets(remember your old-school PC's?most of them had qualcomm conn. modems). They are well-versed in that so they perfected it beforehand.
