Did anybody noticed any change in functions after the last upadte that installed the may security patch? The update was about 350mb big, so it was probably more than a security patch.

Update from last post. Main gain in battery saving is when in idle mode, I don't see a real difference in battery saving when using it. I also did a factory reset but some of the smaller things still persist.
It's a 50/50 this update. Gain security update and better selfie camera and slight improvement in battery at the expense of really minimal lag, lower quality of main camera.

Guest, 04 Jun 2019Just got an update notification - Pie, 50.2.A.0.379. I am... moreI updated yesterday. My findings so far.
Neutral
=Some icons have changed.
=notification panel is changed, time on left, notification icons are bigger.
=The Ui for default camera app has changed.
Positive
+Selfie camera seems better
+Notives better battery life so far
+Also comes with the May 1 2019 security update.
Negative
-Basic apps take a small fraction of a second to load longer to open first time than on oreo. Even in settings when tapping into sub settings folders there are slight delays, just a fraction again.
-Adaptive brightness doesn't seem to work properly or there is a delay.
-On start up setting app sometime hangs. If you have digital time widget, sometimes it will display time without fourth digit.
-A filter is applied to lock screen which turns everything in it a pale washed blue/purple, its okay afterwards in homescreen.
- Main camera has more noise, reduced quality.

After the pie update ,the camera quality decreased in photos (i don't know in videos as i didn't film very much). In low light there is a blue-ish noise in areas which should be black and the HDR looks like half the resolution. In manual mode pictures get a little better if you know what to do but still they look worse after the "Pie" update.

Did anybody notice the improved quality of the rear and especially the front camera after the Pie update? The difference in quality of the selfie cam is incredible.

Camera performance on the XA2 in daylight situations is amazing as you'd expect from a 23Mpx Sony Sensor. Photos are crisp with plenty of details. Video performance is wonderful with both 4K at 30fps or 1080 at 60fps which are features that even the P30 Lite seems to skip. Now if you are going to use the camera in well-lit situations, this is the best deal that you could get for the money. Even better than the Xperia 10 because honestly other than the pleasing form factor, I believe that the 10 would actually be a downgrade from the XA2. Now low light performance on the XA2 is not bad by any means, but it also isn't stunning. If you tweak the settings in manual mode and turn HDR on then you will surely get some more than decent photos but don't expect anything close to an flagship low light performance. It still gets the job done in dark situations but there are better shooters more suitable to low light situations. I actually got the XA2 on a discount for USD250 with an offered case, screen protector and 16Gb Micro SD card and for that price it was the best deal on the market. Of course there are trade-offs but I do not regret my purchase especially after receiving the Android 9 update which made the phone even better and brought out the best out of the excellent Sony hardware.

AJM, 16 Apr 2019Just got me the Xperia XA2. Have to say for an affordable m... moreCan you please tell me, if you tried both the xa2 and 10, which one has a better camera performance especially in the low light (f.e. Clubs and concerts)? I know xa2 has better battery life and 10 is interesting because of screen. So the camera will be the deal breaker for me

Just got me the Xperia XA2. Have to say for an affordable mid range phone, it holds its own against the Xperia 1 and Xperia 10 in my opinion. Xperia 1 has 6GB RAM, the Xperia10 has 3 or 4GB. Compared to the 1 & 10's slightly faster processor, XA2 Qctacore 2.2Ghz is not bad at all. XA2 camera is 23MP to both other models' camera at 13MP. All in all for what you pay, u do get a lot of phone for sure. Can't see why one would need 6GB RAM for casual use, e.g Netflix, making calls etc anyway, 3GB is more than enough?

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2018Hi, guys. I want to buy this phone, but in the official Son... moreComing late, but Sony phones always seem to have proximity sensor problems. One workaround is to press the Home button while on a call. This at least takes you to your Home screen during the call, which stops you accidentally pressing call-critical buttons like Mute with your face.
