Got this phone yesterday and boy is it a treat, a fantastic upgrade from my iPhone 5c, which in itself was a great little device but the 8GB storage was it's main letdown. Cannot wait to get the free headphones for pre-ordering. So far I can only fault the position of the volume buttons but I am sure I will grow used to it.

    Same with the current lines of Xperia. Customer wants better quality smartphone... and personally as a Sony fan, I want a better product with the best real life experience from my favorite company.

    As of now, competitions beat XZ in many aspects.... especially in camera, with the new triple sensor, comes the additional random lens glare *flip table*

      While the likes of Engadget, T3, AnandTech and Ars are yet to publish their reviews, on average, this baby has been given 4-stars out of 5 by most others. Pity no showroom in my city has a unit on display. Tempted to pre-order, though! Just might.

      But yeah - bummed the One m7 is slowly giving up the ghost :(

I suggest you read it again and compare with other brand review.

        Xperia UI less crash and it's had minimum crash compare to the competitions, you also don't kn -- I read that article too, and experience it myself with my aging Sony phone. Really Z3 is the pinnacle of Xperia.

        Xperia have the great audio, upscaling the mp3 file, play Hises music and else, you still don't know. -- I knew, It's a sofware based and useless when you already have lossless. Hardware wise, analysis proved that Sony used whatever DAC that comes preinstalled in qualcomm chips. It can't compete with competition. Very ironic while Sony known to built the great Walkman.

        You should get the XZ to learn some news from yourself, don't do your speculation, this will only show you bias to Sony, perhaps you are the troll from the competitors too. -- Why do you think I knew all written above? Because I'm a Sony fan and I did my research all over the internet eagerly but found it a bit disappointed. I want to buy this phone to replace my aging Xperia but sadly its not available yet in my country.

        I'm just a complaining customer that demand something better from my favorite company. That's all!!

          But VAIO - it failed because of lack of quality. Everyone expects quality from SONY. But for a budget minded people they came up with budget Vaio - The E series and that's where their downfall started. The E series is horrible - it has performance but build, simply put - HORRIBLE.
          SONY knows its mistake and that why its currently focusing on only Premium products. Had VAIO remained a premium brand it would have survived. Look at JIP - the first thing that they did after acquiring VAIO - they declared its a premium brand - premium product.

              You said this thing is the best from Sony? Maybe yes, but I'm sure they can do better if they just combine all their best technology into it. From Walkman, Bravia, DSLR, etc.

              It's not a matter of "Can't" but a matter of "Won't". Sony is stubborn!!

              You talked about VAIO, why do you think it fall? It's because Sony didn't hear what consumer really wants, similar situation in the current line of Xperia.

              Sony can make anything they think super or the best... but its no use if consumer didn't like it. The most important is what consumer thinks, NOT a company think. Keep it like this, and Xperia brand will face the same fate as VAIO sooner or later.

                My Z3 ain't perfect, none laptop is. Same goes for mobiles. But what is really ridiculous is that some folks are just never ever happy. In this world you cannot achieve perfection. My XZ is arriving tomorrow, but what I really like is that clove.co.uk is sending me Sony Wireless Fones free of charge. I guess that's a good deal.

                About the specs. As I said, no perfection in this life. For those who are trying to get close, don't just blah blah blah, go to Kickstarter or similar, design your ultimate fone and start your own production. It's as simple as that. Or just stop complaining & shut up.

                  Oh yeah, I have another MZ-NH1 brand new - stored in maximum security vault - when this one dies. I'm 42 which means I sorted out my portable audio for life.

                    Received my xperia xz today, first thought is that it is smooth running, looks good but it warms up next to the camera and I don't know ow whether it is normal as this is an issue that was sorted from xperia z5 onwards.
                    If anyone else has the xz please let me know ow how your phone is

                        I still have with me 5 cell phones, Sony Xperia Z, Z1, Z Ultra, XA & Z5. XA design lil bit disappointed because I love square, rectangular. I sold out or gave to relatives M4 Aqua,C3 respectively. All the past 5years I used Sony. This XZ, will my next catch. Cheers!

                          Neutral Charge , 05 Oct 2016I think it's a good upgrade New Camera Improvements(trip... moreNew Camera Improvements(triple image sensor) -- Still no OIS, small pixel size, bad low light quality, image processing could be better, long saving time.

                          Full manual control on camera -- Not really, some feature locked to auto when using some feature, not as free as competition

                          4k recording -- Really nice only if it does not overheating - in summer or hot place, it will literally shut down in 5 seconds.

                          5 axis image stabilization -- too many judders, low detail, eat too much compute power resulting overheat and battery eater, only on very limited macro situation, OIS/hardware is better and much more efficient.

                          Improved battery -- Still, competition is far better in battery life. They should put at least 3600 to match Lagsung. Qnovo is great tho.

                          Improved Ram management (Smart Cleaning) -- This is good, but not great, it'll be better if they just add more RAM and battery also less bloatware.

                          Improved charging system with quick charge 3.0 & the mah is high too. -- not so special, every competition already has it

                          Very much improved design with curved glass -- i like omnibalance more, slimmer with less side bezel will be better.

                          Usb type C -- not so special, and only low speed v2.0 at that

                          What more do you want???

                          Aside from above improvements. Screen w/ better color accuracy, better heat control - no overheating, faster and bigger internal storage - lower saving time for capturing image, always on screen. 4k screen w/ changeable resolution to save battery when not needed - let user decide if they want image quality or battery life, best DAC for best music experience and bring WALKMAN App back, iris scanner.

                          Price? Just bring it to market!!! There will always be buyers looking for best quality and a Sony!

                                    my xz is shipping soon so excited. this is like my 6th xperia phone about. I stay sony only cus i dont see people around me with it much. but yeah the specs i want has been around and around. nothing super excited about it.
