A trouble is supposed to be a not something good all the way, or you want to give an impressions through these units over millions, send it back and get another good one is an easy common solution, or you are out of excuses as usual.
Regarding to the YouTube, if it is supports 2 or 3 or 40mp, your smartphone display is already not more than 3mp, so nonsense as usual.

Tann Hauser, 01 Dec 2017What nonsens... Why would any camera, less alone smartphon... more"Why would any camera, less alone smartphone one be only for point n shoot?"
            Because
            1. It is convenient and faster
            2. Most people using smartphones are not photographers

"Camera with no manual control is by default worse camera."
Name me one flagship that don't have manual mode

"And it HAS full manual controls in XZ1 and Premium"
Yeah.. It has manual controls but it has some annoyances. For example, I want to set 0.5 ss and iso 1600 for a low light situation. I set ss first and then set iso and....boom, ss revert back to auto. Next time, I set iso first and then set ss and... Boom ss revert back to auto. This is crazy.

"Xperias camera is great even in automode owligh"
Tell me 1 tech review site who said XZ1 camera is better in low light than competitors.

"Those are real life tests, with actual real results seeable, not someones opinion about pixel processing this or that"
I agree these are real life tests but in what resolution do you watch YouTube? 1080p is max YouTube support and that's 2 mp. 19mp, 16mp and 12mp pictures downscale to 2mp and compare? This is a bad idea I must say. That's why you can't compare any camera by watching youtube.

"People take photos and video to look at them, not examine its pixels, corners or whatever nonsens"
What's the point in using 19mp sensor if it only captures the same detail as a 2mp?

And finally but not last Samsung fanboys are always camping on all Sony threads to bash Sony mobile randomly, just go enjoy your beloved Samsung smartphones.

Why would any camera, less alone smartphone one be only for point n shoot?
Users want to be able to take different photos of same stuff, not only the way that OEM thinks it should be. Camera with no manual control is by default worse camera. Every actual photographer will say so.
Xperias camera is great even in automode owlight, as seen in these comparissons....
And it HAS full manual controls in XZ1 and Premium.
And why should people forget yt testers? Those are real life tests, with actual real results seeable, not someones opinion about pixel processing this or that.
People take photos and video to look at them, not examine its pixels, corners or whatever nonsens.
A pleasing photo or video is in the eye of the viewer, not photoshop app zoom in option.

dragonov, 01 Dec 2017keep in mind that the xperia cameras, xz or xzp, xz1, xz1c ... moreErmmm, couple of corrections...

Steadyshot is available at 1080p at 60fps...at least on my Performance. And IAM available on 30fps, and normal stabilisation is available at 4k. You sure its not on your XZ?
Motion eye I believe does not have lower 8mpx but 12 mpx option....
You dont have to use manual preset 1s shutter for good lowlight quality, 1/16 is quite enough with some -0.3 to -0.5 exposure levels, for great shots even without tripod...
With Oreo XZ1 has even ISO level managment, so I belive even better results can be made by keeping ISO under control.
And Its quite easy to use, just preset manuals for lowlight, just a flick to manual in app gets you to "lowlight" mode.

About HDR....at least it has control over it, you can turn it on and shadows will be uncovered, and not too much....I would hate a camera that actually cant catch a good light to shadow contrast shot, these make out to be really great dramatic shots people love to see.
Sth some automatic hdr phone cameras without manual mode can not do, as they add to much hdr by default....
for ex new Iphones cam is ....well, photos turn out really bad exactly due to too much HDR, like that worst overprocessed Instgr filter...
Actual Photographers hate that overprocessed stuff...
Dont know about Pixel in that regard, maybe it is better, as I ve seen it has better auto dynamic range yes but not so out of proportion as ihph8... but it has no manual mode either, which is...uhhhh.

Tann Hauser, 30 Nov 2017Ah, here photo and video compare of this XZ1/XZ Prem camera... moreSmartphone cameras are mainly used for point and shoot purpose. Almost no one use manual mode. Even if someone want to use manual mode, Xperia is not a good option because of very limited manual controls and RAW image is not supported. So, auto or manual, xperia is not a good option for taking photos.

                    P. S. Forget youtube camera comparisons. All people who use xperia phones know xperias are worst for shooting photos. Thank you.

xperias are the worst in low light.
they might be good in many things about their cameras, but leave the low light to the S8. No brand can beat Samsung in low light.

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2017How bad is it, the aperture is bit smaller but I dont know ... morekeep in mind that the xperia cameras, xz or xzp, xz1, xz1c are mediocre in four points:
                            1. low light: the images are blurry, smudgy and grainy due to the absence of optical image stabilization and the aperture (2.0 vs 1.8 or 1.7 on competition). Over-processing and over-sharpening kill your image at night.
                            * tip 1: use the 8 megapixel setting to yield better results, where you use the full size of the sensor on a smaller count. You don't need 19 or 23 really!
                            * tip 2: use long exposure (1 second) where possible. Using this, the camera is better than other cameras really, unfortunately it is not practical, though.
                            2. Dynamic range: the dark and shaded areas in daylight shots are too dark when compared to the competition. The sensor measures the exposure well but if there is shade, unfortunately it will look dark to even black.
                            3. Lack of stabilisation in 4K: since no OIS is available, the steadyshot only work at 1080p at 30fps (not even on 60 fps). Your 4k videos will come out shaky.
                            4. The blurry and smudgy corners: the corners of photos from my xz are distorted to a large extent. Sent it to maintenance but they did not acknowledge the problem. however, the 8.0 update added an option (in the xzp) to camera settings in which you can fix this issue, thus it is a problem they refused to acknowledge for me.
One final point, the camera app use more battery than the competition due to the larger sensor (probably).
Here are some useful videos about the xz series photography:

AnonD-392500, 30 Nov 2017Not as good as competitors like U11 and S8. Ah, here photo and video compare of this XZ1/XZ Prem camera to U11....

                              https://youtu.be/OkWyHsmLfHA

Looking at this, while we could argue over automode photo (more grain vs more noise reduction artefacts) and not over manual which does much better photo on XZ, there is just no doubt about which is better at video.

IMO overall, as a photo/video cam, XZ Prem/XZ1 does better at lowlight than this competitor

Anonymous, 30 Nov 2017How bad is it, the aperture is bit smaller but I dont know ... moreIt is so far from bad, it is one of the best in lowlight, but the steady hands is not an option because it doesn't have optical image stabilization, the huge camera sensor cannot afford this hardware feature until now so you need steady hands when shooting photos, however, if you have time to play a little bit with manual mode then you can get near perfect shots.
