Anonymous, 19 Nov 2017Do you have this phone to say that it sucks. Well to see is... moreDxo is not what it used to be.
Their testing is quite circumstantial now, for ex giving points for bokeh in portrait mode to some phones, but ignoring bokeh of other like XZ Prem just because it doesnt have bokeh in portrait but in macro mode.
Also points counting doesnt have mathematic equative background now, they add points as they like, for ex out of 90 and 87 they get an overall 100 score ?!

So what to make out of their tests actually?
Cant trust dxo anymore.

Been using for a month now. Battery is great, display is rich with colors and its fast and reliable. You also get monthly security patches. Can't complain. Good camera and I'm impressed with the front camera as well. With the metal build and gorilla glass 5 display. This will age well. Have nothing bad to say. It's a solid phone with no problems so far.
Recommend because of build and the great dual stereo speakers for video.
It also have superb sound quality, I've paired my bose qc 35 to this phone.
First phone I'm years I've used that I have no complain about. I really tried to find something bad! But there is nothing...
If it goes down in price it's going to be a really good deal, but I would say buy it anyway, it's a quality phone much better then the xz. Because of the build quality :)

AnonD-392500, 19 Nov 2017*XZ premium and XZ1I know, but both of thek are well known and probable review devices based on popularity, xperia was under rated phone. If you used one you'll know its under rated. Antutu rated processor performance while DXO mark rate photo quality, but based from what I have read, DXO is kind of biased base from the popularity of the device. Admit it that when were talking about android, Samsung was and still the most popular. In some review they said that LG V30 is the best cameraphone.

Here is what DXO mark(the most respected site that benchmark image quility of smartphone cameras) says

"Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium features a capable smartphone camera that gets the job done — especially in good light — but which doesn’t rise to the heights of the top phones from other manufacturers. In particular, it is sensitive to harsh lighting conditions outdoors, and finicky in low light and indoor situations. Video performance is also competent, but marred by problems with loss of detail. The stacked sensor does allow the XZ Premium to support a novel 960 fps slow-motion mode, but even at 19MP, it doesn’t produce overall better images or video than many other phones with lower or similar-resolution sensors"

"So it turns out that more than 6 months after their release, the LG G5 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 remain the top choices when it comes to cameraphones."

Sony did it once again, the Sony Xperia xz1 and his brothers are invading the YouTube and destroying its comment threads with its superior camera quality against the competitors which are using a lot of camera techs like dual camera lens with no noticeable benefits.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2017Does this means EIS function better than OIS? I thought the... moreOIS is a more effective, advanced technique and also out performs EIS in dimly lit areas.
With OIS, there is no image degradation as necessary compensations are made before optical signal is fed to the CCD. (unlike EIS)

EIS has become quite popular these days because of they are light and less expensive.
But at low resolutions and in poor lighting conditions, you might see significant degradation.

Anonymous, 17 Nov 2017Does this means EIS function better than OIS? I thought the... moreEIS is the video image that occupies only 90 percent of the CCD, when the image is electronically magnified to fill the remaining 10 percent of the frame, there will be an inevitable loss of image quality and resolution. This is the problem with Sony phones.

OIS works before the image hits the Charge Coupled Device (CCD), meaning that no electronic adjustments are necessary and that the image is stable when it hits the chip, completely filling the chip’s entire surface area. Cameras with optical image stabilization typically also feature a gyro-sensor built into the camera to negate camera shake.
If your video requires the highest of image quality, then OIS will be your most ideal choice. If you require smaller, less bulky and image quality is not a major concern, then you might want to consider EIS.

                                  https://www.motionelements.com/blog/articles/eis-or-ois-your-guide-to-image-stabilization-systems

More advanced and better camera sytems use both EIS and OIS on their phones. Such as Apple and Samsung. Thats why their cameras are superior to Sony. Here are some trusted comparasions from gsmarena.
