Aluminium design stinks, I wish Sony would go back to classy design of glass back just looks amazing to look at just like XZ premium. Before yall start on saying, "glass back cracks and shatters" blah blah etc, aluminium phones are prone to dent scuffs and paint chipping which looks beautiful to look at I think not, when you have no choice but to use a case to cover up the ugliness of aluminium unibody. Aluminium is a horrible material to build a phone with. It's easy to bend, it's easy to dent, and radio waves hate it. Glass just looks better, durable and stronger and it's becoming a trend now.

"The rear cover of the device is made from an aluminium alloy marketed as ALKALEIDO, a trademark by Kobe Steel, specifically engineered to complement the smartphone's premium design with a material that has an extra shine and a feeling of depth."

In summary, Alkaleido is shiny aluminium alloy only.

I buy their high-end flagships every single year, starting from Z series till now X series. At first they are leading, but somehow after the XPERIA Z3+ they seemed to be lost. Right now they are at the borderline in terms of them following the trend, previously it was the memory that made people complain because it is slightly lesser than the competition, and now it is the problem with the bezels. Sony is late again, so in order to do better than this year they better trim down the bezels, otherwise it is GGWP to them

AnonD-392500, 03 Nov 2017Rock solid=heavy You can't find a light rock solid phone.A smartphone's structure must have enough volume of material to ensure it strengths and durability, that's why you can find cheaper smartphone must very lightweight, because the volume material of used is lower, for example a building must have strong structure and solid built, thus the material must have a enough volumes.

For those worried that Sony will remove the headphone jack, keep in mind that Sony is so slow at catching up to the trend, it might take them some time to follow. So chill.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 03 Nov 2017Arguments from ALKALEIDO aluminum back to SwiftKey keyboard... moreHow do you explain Anodizing? Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Aluminum is ideally suited to anodizing, although other nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized. The Alkaleido is refined by this technology!

Arguments from ALKALEIDO aluminum back to SwiftKey keyboard? Really? Even if they add all the different things inside the aluminum to make it shine or something like that, in the end for most people it will still feel like it is normal aluminum, except it shines more. ALKALEIDO is just a name out of it, with aluminum plus the things they add in to make it shine more, and they call it ALKALEIDO, thats it, but it still feels like normal aluminum
