Hi, i just want to share my experience using the Xperia XZ1 as my main phone (daily driver) since December 2019. I bought the phone secondhand in good condition with no hardware issue except for minor scratches on the screen, but that to expected on a used phone. It is from a Japanese courier, au.
Before that, please note that I don't play games on my phone. Also, this review is based on the usage in 2021.
For me, this phone is still quite capable in 2021. The Snapdragon 835 is still a powerhouse. Launching applications is still smooth. I seriously haven't found any lag or whatsoever. However, the 4GB of RAM does show it ages, sometimes I found application reload in the background. But personally, I don't really mind it since it reloads quickly, credit to the powerful chipset.
The software is stuck on Android 9 & October 2019 security patch. It is old, but again, personally, it didn't bothered me enough because I can still download all my application from the Play Store and it still got latest application updates.
The 2700mAh battery may sounds very dull, especially in this era of big sized smartphone. But, hell, this phone still lasts for a day with my moderate usage of social media, YouTube, Spotify, and taking pictures with SoT of 6 to 7 hours. Pretty decent for its size! Again, I don't play video games on my phone. AccuBattery app shows my device battery health is at 87%.
I am still in love with the design of this phone. I don't know why but I love the bezel on this phone. It makes the overall looks of this phone very elegant, very Sony'ish I could say, lol. That's why I'm still using it as my main phone, it is my eye candy.
The only things that the XZ1 disappoints me is the camera. Poor dynamic range, can't capture good detail in harsh lighting condition. I would say today's entry smartphone's camera is better than this. But I love the front camera, it doesn't smoothen your skin, Apple'ish result I could say.
TLDR: Yes, Xperia XZ1 is still a very capable phone in 2021 if you don't mind the camera output. Good design, battery still holding up, the performance still topnotch.

The phone is great, camera also great, the battery got a little bit fast finish but due to it is a fast charging phone, so i not so care about it, but currently i have face a problem, after i update to android 9, my phone will automaticly freeze for few second n restart, it wont take too long to restart, but i just don't like it (can imaging that when i talking with my client, it suddenly shut down....)

Battery is just no words. Great great. Charges sooo fast and keeps the battery life till 36 h heavy use believe me.
No quick drains or something weird. Perfect.

Imeth, 11 Jan 2021Can I do it even for an au softbank or docomo versions??You can use newflasher. Download the latest firmware from XperiFirm software. There's some tutorial on youtube on how to do it.
I managed to do it on au and SoftBank version of Xperia XZ1 and docomo version of Xperia X Compact without any error.

I just got it for 2 weeks. Xperia xz1 global and it is amazing phone! Updated it to its latest android 9 pie and worked fine. It only lagged if I played for a long time. I played Genshin Impact BTW its a very RAM reliant game and still it ran it in the lowest setting but it is still graphics look awesome TBH. I got it for about $110.31 it's a steal.

Got an issue after 5 months. After a 3-ft fall, the power button stopped working, only fingerprint works. Then, the volume up button started to go crazy. It became a hybrid volume and power button. BTW, I have a case on my phone all the time. Can this be fixed without replacing the parts?

I just bought xz1 au ver. It's running Android 8. I want to update to android 9 version 47.2.C.0.262 is it stable? Or does it have any problem?

I'm using android pie and it runs smoothly until I found kinda bugs there. My mobile data is connected after I switch on-off the airplane mode. Is there any OS that can solve it?

camera quality still better than huawei p30 pro. everything else is ok. just the volte support is lacking
