Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact

It's one of those phones that can force you to detox on this stressful life of constant phone upgrades.
The compact size gives you 'that' freedom. The outdated android 9 software feels and functions like the "lite" version of today's modern android version. It's responsive with no flashy animation. Its 60hz display is enough. It has the headphone jack and the notification light.
A phone is a phone. We are living on an era that all phones must have this and that. It must have an amoled display, 120hz display, super bright display under the sun, super fast charging, 5g and wifi 6.
This phone is a reminiscent of an era when we valued functionality over vanity. Strip down almost all the features of today's best phone and it will pale in functionality as compared to this little compact phone.
Overall, it's the best damn practical compact phone that can be used to this date.

someone , 05 Oct 2024and what's the difference between the Japanese version... moreXz1 compact japanese version
-Locked bootloader ( no custom rom suuport)
-Camera shutter sound cannot be turned off
-Has the docomo/softbank name imprinted on the back
-Plenty japanese apps that cannot be deleted/stopped
-Cheaper
International version
-No fingerprint ( Can be flashed via adb.,works)
-Unlocked bootloader ( Custom rom support)
*LineageOS is supported BUT your camera will suffer. Stock camera functions will not work such as the super slow mo and sony's photo post process.

Got it since 2018. One of the best compact phones I ever used. Only Z3 compact had better ergonomy. Had problem with thumbnails files, which I could not delete and update apps. Solved by reinstalling firmware. Also the battery is swollen. I'd like to change it but there are no models in this formfactor. I considered Zenfone 10 as the successor but reviews said it has bad clarity of photos. Just hope Sony sometimes will remake this one

I've owned XZ1's for 7 years now since they were brand new. Over the years they had various malfunctions, port failures, screen breaks, etc that needed repair, so I ended up accumulating 3 of these phones that I switch between and fix as needed. I have absolutely loved the XZ1c, and would still love it had I not reached a point where I was running at 99% memory utilization all the time due to a 32gb internal memory limit, and the ever expanding space needs of Android and app updates (All of my files go on a SD card, so only app data is in the internal memory). I love the 1/8in jack (I used it many hours a day), and the SD expansion card slot. I love it's size, weight, and hand/pocket feel. It is truly a shame that Sony saw fit to stop producing the line. I would have bought an updated version in a heartbeat (assuming the had brought back the 1/8in jack which they eliminated from the XZ2c. I will say though that if you have vision issues, the screen on this may be a bit small for you. Recently I've started to have difficulty reading the small font I have loved for so many years, and between that and needing more storage and horsepower I updated to a Sony Xperia 1 III which has some amazing features, but feels gigantic in my hand and pocket. Still not sure I like it Wish they made a compact version of it. Probably should have gone for the Xperia 5 line instead. lol.
I do love that you can still find plenty of parts for the XZ1c, and I have repaired all of mine back to full functionality. (when you crack it open to replace a bad charge port, or digitizer. Make sure to just go ahead and replace your usb C port, 1/8in jack, and battery in addition to the broken digitizer (screen). It'll save you from having to crack it back open later. This bit me in the butt twice while replacing a cracked screen on one phone, and a bad USBC port on another. Soon after the repair each one had a failure of another component that made it unuseable until I opened it back up. The parts are cheap, just replace them if you are replacing any of them. If you get an issue with an unresponsive phone that goes into infinite reboot once plugged in, it is your battery. Replace it, and your phone will start working again. You don't have to wipe your data with the Xperia Companion to get it working again. Anyway.. great phones!

I'm switch to XZ1C from XZ2C. Now i can compare both phones and to say, that ZX2C has better camera, GPS and display and worse ergonomy.

After almost month of using xz1c find audio output much superior compared to to 10IV .. awesome device in terms of audio and design. If you want great audio go for xz1c, you will not regret.. shame way today's market doesn't provide compact device like this .. battery in my case is totally fine, 2-3 days of usage but I'm not camera/"soc" net person.. music is primary feature for me.

Vladimir, 10 Sep 2024 Jelly Max seems too much of a brick... better go for Ulefo... moreAm I reading the same specifications as you? Ulefone 20T mini is bigger in all 3 dimensions with 133.5 x 63.3 x 24.9 mm vs. 128.7 x 62.7 x 16.3 mm of Jelly max. And if you're talking about mass, 20T mini is 301 g vs. 180 g of Jelly max.

Vic Boy, 12 Apr 2024My gf's XZC finally giving up the ghost. Been superb i... moreOnly decent option that comes to mind is iPhone 13 mini, it's a shame that apple didn't go along with these compact/mini models and instead is making these stupidly large "Plus" models that only chicks with daddy issues buy.
