My gf's XZC finally giving up the ghost. Been superb in all areas. Do you guys have a tip on a new one? Needs to be compact and sturdy. Asus Zenfone 9, 10 and so on? Any other suggestions - any other manufacturer? Thanks!

same here. replaced the battery as well. imo sony batteries are the most reliable in terms of safety/fire because sony gives a generous amount of foldage in the pouches edges.. Hardest part is re-installing the sticky rim to keep the screen in. Very easy to mess up and ruin it. Had to buy 2. But either way, its still a great phone. nothing as small & thin as it. And the flip case is amazing because the flip unsleeps the phone and the thumb unlocks it without pressing. so I can literally start writing notes (i use palm pilot graffiti pro) without a starting button press.
I thought about switching to unihertz's small phone but I still like a decently largish screen for the occasional viewing, which is why zx1c is perfect. with the unihertz I wouldn't be able to see menus during remote access.
I could never switch to iphone. and I know they have a mini version that's the same size.
As for lineage or iode, do they finally work perfect? or will cameras go bye bye?

Dr Rock, 14 Feb 2024After six years the battery is swelling in my xz1 compact, ... moreSame here, battery swelling after 6 years, I'll just replace it.
Already replaced the usb port, the screen, the parts I broke on disassembly (the speakers)...
It's a long disassembly, but it's worth it, I love my tiny phone, still haven't found a proper replacement.

Dr Rock, 14 Feb 2024After six years the battery is swelling in my xz1 compact, ... moreHappened to mine too so I assume it's a common issue - decomposing LiPos are dangerous you should stop using it and dispose of it safely (I.e. not in the trash!)

After six years the battery is swelling in my xz1 compact, it does not lie flat on table. It still charges quickly and holds charge all day. What should I do?

When compact really meant compact. Lineage too so you get rid of manufacturer bloat unlike modern phones.

newflesh, 17 Nov 2023"battery lasts 24h easily?" this is some bs or yo... moreIt can actually do 24h of light use, I'm using one as my main phone, though mine is running Lineage and is degoogled. The camera is the least of my worries, won't do wonders for pro photography, but good enough for occassionally snapping something

Also camera may be going strong still but it doesn't change the fact that it's very outdated and bad in low light especially. I mean I love this phone but don't overhype it, it's an old one

I've had this baby for 5,5 years - no issues so far except my 3-year old yanked it off the cable while charging (a few times!) so now charging port needs replacing. Otherwise best phone ever - camera must have done 300K pics and still going strong, battery lasts 24h easily... if it only had more internal memory i would keep it forever... :-)

Bought this phone in December 2018, so it's already almost 5 years in active use.
No complaint, SD835 is blazingly fast to power 720p screen, sadly I bought the docomo version so it stuck with android 9. It will be a just matter of time until my banking apps won't be supported,,,
When that happen, I will consider to replace mine with that jelly star phone with 3 inch screen from kickstarter. It doesn't fit my taste though, kinda like a toy phone,,,
Hopefully I can still squeeze 2 more years from this phone, and I am sure the trend would be "the smaller size phone the better" (positive thinking lol)
