You can still buy one from the official Sony website. However, the fingerprint sensor can be tricky to use sometimes. Also it only supports up to Android 9.0 officially, though it will probably be supported for many years, and you can install a custom ROM if you want a newer version of Android.

Hi Guys is this phone still viable as daily driver in 2021? I'm planning to get one. I'm currently using the galaxy note 10 but i miss the compact phone as i used to have the z5 compact then i switch to xz3 then the note 10 since I can no longer find a good compact phone. the smallest updated android compact i think is s10e and it's not much smaller than my note 10.
i'm not playing mobile games anyway.

I bought the Xperia XZ1 Compact in 9/2017. Almost three and a half years later I have dropped it probably 200 times and the screen has not cracked from anywhere. Sure the bezels have gotten some minor cosmetic damage from all the accidental drops, but the fact that the display is undamaged, is amazing.
Maybe for the past 6 months the system has frozen every now and then while charging the phone. I've missed a couple of mornings because the alarm clock wouldn't work since it froze overnight. I bet there's still at least another year to add to the lifetime of the phone, but it's time for me to move on to the next one.
This is my farewell speech and a late review. This was my first Sony phone, wonder if there's more decent models from Sony.

In my experience unfortunately after some months it started heating up, it happened 2 times when playing the only game that i play jurassic world alive (like pokemon go) and after waiting some time it booted or not responsive. Took it 2x to the repair.
For normal use and photos and convenience very good. Shame I had to stop using this because i use also for work communication and it cant with it being unreliable.

Adrian, 28 Jul 2020This is an extremely powerful phone on paper (even for 2020... morethe bluetooth audio cutting at short distance seems to be an issue with xperias. been having the issue with my Z5compact and XZ3. never experience it on my note 10 and my wife's p30 pro. now i'm wondering if it's snapdragon related since the other phones i have tested is an xynos and kirin.

If you familiar with android adb command can do as below:
Open cmd and cd to platform-tool folder
Type
adb devices
Then
adb shell
Then to uninstall
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.dialer
To know name of package install App inspector from google playstore
I removed 20-30 bloatware from docomo set. A lot, battery life are amazing. But llease not all app

Come on Sony. Make a real compact flagship phone. something like this one but newer model. name it XZ3 compact or Xperia 5 II compact or 10 II compact or anything you want just make it compact and powerful.
p.s. compact we mean smaller than samsung s10e, at most of the size (screen and body) of iphone 12 mini or iphone se. For me the best should be the size of original xz1. A real business phone

i have one,amazing phone!
small but offers all a norma l user needs!it reads 512 gb memory cards,battery life is amazing,is fast,the screen is pretty damn good!the desgin it`s elegant and the material is tough!
i absolutely recomend it if you like small phones!
i had to send mine to factory repair because a sreen issue and sony...replaced the phone giving me two more year warranty!!
