My third Sony Compact (Dropped a Z1C and broke a Z5C following iFixit's battery replacement instructions). For me this is the sweet spot hiding under the radar - all the good things of the earlier compacts with USB-C, 3.5mm jack and plenty of RAM. This phone was only available for 6 months before being replaced by the XZ2C and I only discovered it by accident. I'm thinking of buying a second one to put in the cupboard! Sony - these compact phones give you a unique niche among all the generic glass slabs. Don't ignore your user base!

I feel exactly the same about this thing as Dex or whatever it was (I'm really sorry, I have swiss cheese memory). I've had this little trooper since 2017 and after four years of loyal service and me literally constantly dropping it, getting water on it, etc. the charging port has finally given up and it's time for him to go (they won't fix it for me since apparently the screen will likely break if they open it up). If possible, I will order the exact same model again. It has never given me any problems, really the only thing that's missing from this phone is the notepad. He is the chosen one.

Will there be a problem if I flash "xz1 Compact" with basic xz1 dual firmware?

Also, this phone has a full extruded aluminum body shell and machined aluminum end caps, not plastic.

Still works so well I don't want to upgrade in June 2021. Browsing and apps work so fast it's the first time I've had a phone not feel slow and old after 4 years. It's also never broken and has no cracks or scratches despite 4 years of daily front pocket carry (in a flip case but no screen protector). It's also been underwater a bunch of times and no problems. The battery life on this phone is incredible, when it was new it would go 3 days on a charge, now it's still easily 2 days and I never used the battery health app, I always fast charge it.

Excellent mobile!!
It has Snapdragon 835, no lags and issues esp. in heavy usage.
Battery and speakers are perfect.
And I love also the ultra wide on the front camera.

After long research I set for Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. It's only under 130mm tall phone with good specs that I've found. (I refuse iphones, sorry). I hope smartphone companies will notice the need and come back to smaller phones soon.

I'd love to see a new Xperia with a powerhouse Snapdragon processor, a 16:9 5-inch screen AND the 72.3% screen-to-body ratio of the GalaxyS4! Add a memory card slot, a headphone jack, and a removable battery! Just build a new Xperia ZR with these specs! It was IP58 WATER-RESISTANT, had a docking station with only battery charging contacts (not the damaging-prone micro-USB port) and had an articulating antenna too! I still have mine!

However, they are kind enough to continue providing support with instructions to build Android 11 for the XZ1 Compact and other maintained legacy devices on their Developer World Open Devices Portal.

I am still using this phone and I wish if Sony would make another compact flagship with a good battery life, earphone jack, good camera and water resistance.

Why did Sony only stop providing software updates after one major update ? From Android 8.0 to Android 9.0 only ? They could have at least given us Android 10, couldn't they?

Can anyone tell me, how can I connect otg on xz1 compact? When I connect the Kingston USB flash drive or mouse. I get nothing!

for me the battery life is good.. still fast in 2021..
