My xz2 just died from water damage inside my rain jacket while running. It was my fault, but I have always rinsed my other xperias with water before and all of them have survived.

Coming back to this phone in 2023, I only noticed the AOSP Open Device program for several Sony phones*. It turns out that Sony rolls out Android 12.0 binaries for this phone. If you think about it, Sony can officially roll out a fourth OS update to this phone. I don't mind this AOSP program thing since I used to flash custom ROMs, but most average consumers don't do that kind of thing.

My lcd is slightly lifted. It seems the battery is swollen and pushing the lcd. This phone has served me well for almost 5 years now.

Than I recommend you the Xperia xz2 Premium! A perfect phone with a great display and a great camera! Take a look! Is an incredible phone! I have also a red xz premium for the 4k screen. It's an amazing piece of technology, but kinda old. Check out the xz2 premium! I'm sure you will love it! Cheers and stay safe!

n0-way, 14 Jan 2023You are welcome! They have xz2 6gb ram and xz3 6gb ram vers... moreHey! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'd love to have an XZ3 as you suggested but, I can't as I have sensitivity to the PWM flickering from OLED panels. If I look at a phone with an OLED display for more than a few minutes it causes headaches and eyestrain. Which is why I am interested in XZ2 instead because it uses IPS display.

Anyway it seems like XZ2 is the perfect phone for me (well, almost) because, it's one of the last flagship devices to have a notchless display (no punchhole selfie camera) and it still has support for LineageOS, meaning can upgrade to Android 12 with latest security patches. My only wish is that it had a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired headsets.

My xz2 is still running great! Only the battery is a bit down, but it's normal after so many years of usage! It's cheep to get it change, not a problem! The phone is still working great, the screen is amazing, the camera is good for its time, the games are running good. Although the phone last update is Android 10 and the phone is good, I recommend you to choose a newer phone, to be safe for the years to come with security updates! Try a xz3 before choosing a xz2!{it has a much beautiful display! More ppi, sharper images! In rest, they are the same}. Cheers and stay safe!

n0-way, 12 Jan 2023https://www.ebay.com/itm/313994993768?epid=5029159505&h... moreAppreciate it thanks! I suppose the only downside (kinda) is the price with taxes, I mean not that it is "expensive" for a new phone but it's a lot more than buying a used one here in the UK especially if you consider additional customs duty, import taxes, etc. A used one typically sells for £60-£80 here whereas this would be probably somewhere close to £200.

I guess I'm just a bit hesitant because I have never used an XZ2 before, I can't say for certain it is what I want until I actually try it. Maybe it's best to buy a used one first and if everything's OK I can later sell it and purchase the 6GB model from China.

Is it possible you could share the name of the seller where you bought the phone from? I'm interested to look into it further. Which model number variant do you have? (eg. H8216, H8296, etc.) Also, did the phone come sealed in the original wrapper like brand new?

P650SE, 11 Jan 2023As far as I understand the 6GB RAM variant is only availabl... moreI bought it from Hong Kong. I live in Europe! The phone is working perfect! Not a single problem! I payed taxes yes, customs. But to get the 6gb ram version, is worth it! I recommend to buy it only brand new with warranty! Or wait for the next year Xperia! Great phones are to arrive soon! Cheers.

I don't own this phone myself (yet) but it is still of interest to me in 2023 because it's one of the last high-end smartphones to come without a notch or punchhole design. It is also one of the last flagship devices to have IPS instead of AMOLED display. Snapdragon 845 is still sufficient for most tasks like web browsing, watching videos, light gaming, etc. It still has support going for official LineageOS and also IodeOS as a more privacy-focused alternative. Storage is limited to 64GB but can be expanded with microSD card.

The only significant issue I can see is the restriction of 4GB RAM for multitasking. There is a 6GB variant available in some Asian markets, but still is not ideal heading into 2023 when a lot of budget phones now come with 8GB as standard.

Overall, this still appears to be an excellent handset, especially appealing to myself as I am unable to use most modern smartphones anyway due to headaches/eyestrain from AMOLED displays. Only thing I'd have wished for is 8GB RAM like the Razer Phone 2 which released in the same year.

I am located in the UK and I would like to purchase the 6GB model but I am unable to find them on eBay unless I search worldwide (eg. imports from Japan)
