Sony must be so happy, the design lovers will buy elsewhere, this one is made for the grown ups. Comfortable grip, enough-for-everyone easy access camera, no nonsense for no silly price. If you use your phone for more, you might need to get a life...

3D Memorys, 07 Apr 2018-The back is brand new - the ergonomic curve was shaped to ... moreMy hand is skinny and glove size large. I absolutelly disagree with the review. It is not the worst ergonomic phone on the market, but it is not ergonomic and comparing to my previous Droid Mini it is horrible. I have found another problem, I constantly shutting the phone down because the power button is too low and if you operate by one hand you will press it involuntery. Another problem - vibrations are to weak and I cannot feel it in my jeans.

I went to shop and try XZ1 compact, and while this phone has other problems ergonomically is superior to XZ2 compact in my opinion. You actually can operate it by one hand, the grip is MUCH better, the material is less slippery, the powerbutton with fingerprint reader is heaven, vibrations are stronger as well the notification led.

It is funny, because people are complaining about 12 mm thickness, but the sides are so thin you cannot "squeeze" the phone hard, it will just slip. The 9 mm XZ1 brick is much more secure grip than this. This whole new design is only marketing, and I cannot imagine how the XZ2 full size can work, where even in reviews thay say it is slippery and the compact is by their measures not.

            Bad design for me

-The Ambient Flow shape with the small footprint makes for one of the best handling experience we've had in a while. The XZ2 Compact is very easy to pick up from a flat table, has a secure grip, and there is no immediate danger of dropping as the sense of slipperiness is gone.
-So, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact doesn't have a breath-taking or futuristic design. Instead, it offers one of the most ergonomic shapes we've handled that feels just natural in hand.

Could you please tell us how big is your hand? Because the Gsmarena's review are on the positive side about the Ambient Flow design.

Okay so I was looking forward to upgrade from wonderfull Droid Mini and here are my first impressions from someone who hate big phones. The phone is too tall. You cannot safely operate everythig by one hand not a chance. The back is not somewhere between slippery and not. Comparing to my droid mini that stick to your palm like a glue this is a step back as well. The fingerprint reader is quick, bit no way the location is ergonomic like previous xperias. The power button is also not perfect and I am constantly turning the phone off by mistake. The auto display brightness is somewhat slow and too dimm in semi-lighted condition (like indoor lighted by a bulb). On plus sides the phone is super fast no lags (but my rooted 4 years old droid is too) and the phone looks much better in real life than on photos. In conclusion i really wish the phone had 4.6" screen.

I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S2 a million times. When the screen cracked in the left corner, the entire phone was still usable. When my Sony Z3C cracked it's screen after being dropped between 7-15 times during its lifetime, it was rendered completely unusable because the digitizer was dead as well, and the cost of getting the screen replaced was so expensive that it made no sense to bother. I just checked the prices and the cheapest place still charges €135 to replace it. After my Z3C broke I hesitantly bought a Huawei P9 but I quickly fell in love with the larger screen size, so for me it's a very welcome change to have a 5" Z3C. I am just worried that it is still prone to getting a cracked screen, and that I end up with an unusable phone if even just a thin hairline fracture occurs. Does anyone know if the latter is still the case?

                                  K800i
                                  P1i
                                  Xperia Mini
                                  then a samsung S3
                                  Xperia ZR
Xperia Z Ultra (still using as E-reader)
                                  (these were amazing phones)

Then i upgraded to the Z3c, overheating and dead camera within 6 mos
                                  got another one... same problem,
then i got an xperia M2, the phone just randomly went off then never worked again
Got the C3 Ultra for my momas a gift.. phone overheated and made her throw it one the floor.
got the z5c... worked fine but the camera was buggy as hell and quality would dip.
then i got the XZ, felt fancy, but constantly hanged, overheated and the camera was unusable in sunlight. and would crap out on me in the most critical situations

After that i said, screw sony... im not buying their crap anymore, not buying any high end crap from any manufacturer anymore.
I have a Nokia 8 and an old Lenovo Vibeshot 2 now and couldn't be happier,

The issue with Sony is instead of listening to its consumers and limiting its product line to focus on quality and tech. it continues to ignore them and pumps out a slew of Phone ranges that no one wants or needs, rebadging older generation flagships as midranges is not gonna generate a profit and when people experience the same bugs its jsut gonna make them angrier.
Believe me i LOOVE THE XPERIA COMPACT series... but sony has lost my trust.

                                  HOW CAN SONY SAVE THEMSELVES??
1-ditch all the This stupid Nomenclature, XA XV, XBABABAE,
just focus on four Series Z, Series X, Series M and sercies C then use MARK1, mark 2, in classical Japanese tradition.

2-The minimalist designs are comfortable, however bring back the Awesome tech that make sony phones like the K800i epic, that xenon flash... GIVE US A CYBERSHOT EXPERIA, BRING BACK THE AWSOME keyboard phones, or phone accessories.

3-STICK TO ONE OR TWO COLORS ONLY, who the hell needs a burgundy metal poop gold frame, everyone uses covers! Make two base colors and release a ton of colored covers.
4-God bless the magnetic charger days, i loved those chargers, now we cant even get wireless charging in a top tier xperia. Use carbon fiber in the body construction and voila!

but will sony listen? NO, they continue to ignore any positive feedback then complain when we stop buying their "falling behind" products.!
                                  Thats my two cents

I've been using the compact versions for some time, because it fits the pocket and I could sit without having to take the phone out. That was the only but solid advantage of it. Who, I ask you, dear Sony, who is going to enjoy getting their pockets ripped by this heavy and thick brick ??? It may be a powerful phone, but it's lost every advantage over any other phone out there.
