This would have been the xperia line's saving grace if it were an actual compact. Sony trying to fool even its loyal fans. Disgraceful. No wonder they continue to become irrelevant and chinese phones are stepping all over them now.

disgusting i certainly wont be buying this what f this is no compact 5 inch isnt compact what the hell sony you f up. loosing customers not that isnt a compact a compact is below 4.6 inch how stupid of sony f everything up!!!!!!!! very upset

Sony,
All we wanted(a few years ago) was a Z6 compact. That's all.
A combination between Z3 compact and Z5 compact design wise, no back glass, so no worries there.
A phone that does not heat up very easy.(not the deal breaker there, but still)...
A phone of which front panel(LCD screen) won't come off by itself.
A free waterproof USB port, no easy-damageable flap to cover it, no magnetic charger needed.
Better software, or whatever is needed for that very high tech camera to take better photos than a 8MP cheap model.
Good battery life, just like there already has been.
Same phone size, because that's why we want this phone: the only one that is small and has good specs. NO we were not craving for another aspect ratio or bigger screen, or dual sim or vibrators for when watching a movie.
Just a simple phone, simple design, good battery life and build quality.
And, just as nobody was expecting back then, we are praying for the headphone jack.
Me, myself, I do not use the headphone jack that much, but taking it off or no good reason is not gonna do too much good or you taking in consideration your "walkman" fans.
Me, as a Z3 compact owner, waiting patiently for a good upgrade from you guys, I am more and more disappointed.
p.s. waterproofing of course. :)

If they reduced the bezels they could have reduced the size from 129 of XZ1 compact they could have gone to 125 (maybe). The thickness is too much in my opinion. The screen size was 4.6 AND IT WAS AMAZING. The compact line is supposed to be direct opponent of the small iPhones (5s, SE) not the middle one (7, 8).
Sony I am a huge fan but seriously i expected better strategy, quality and design. It feels like seeing one of those crappy Samsung ****phones. Technology packed awesome as always.

If sony remove the bezel of Z5 series and make the back material as aluminum, this will be great. Now XZ2 design feels me dissapointed to sony.

Dude, what have you been smoking, the predecessor XZ1 Compact was 129mm vertical height * 9.3mm depth. Now the xz2c succesor is 135mm * 12.1mm

168 gram and 12.1 mm of thickness for compact device..? Do they completely lost their mind..? And no 3.5 mm... Not to say that both models looks like nothing but soap bar. Looks like Sony decided to go out of smartphone business by mid of the next year. I said it about HTC U series, now I'm saying the same thing about XZ2, XZ2 Compact: people responsible for designing and accepting both of these models to production must be immediately fired before they decisions they make bring company to no return point.

who made just a concept of 12 mm thickness with compact phone
168 mm and 12 mm thickness except it aal is well but weight and thickness no way sony

Great, one less option for me. I was waiting for a better XZ1 Compact because i decided to go back to Android from my ***** iPhone, but i guess i will be sticking with the small iPhone SE of mine.
