Coming back to this phone in 2023, I only noticed the AOSP Open Device program for several Sony phones*. It turns out that Sony rolls out Android 11.0 binaries for this phone. If you think about it, Sony can officially roll out a fourth OS update to this phone. I don't mind this AOSP program thing since I used to flash custom ROMs, but most average consumers don't do that kind of thing.

My Xperia XZ2 Premium supports 2160p HDR video playback in YouTube, but my XZ Premium doesn't. It streams 2160p non-HDR videos in YouTube, but when trying to play any 4K HDR video, only maximum resolution available is 1080p HDR. Disappointing because I bought this phone last year only due to its 2160p resolution display.

Prefer side biometric sensor as on this phone
Only (major) downsides for me;
Only froze twice, but was easily rectified
No dedicated memory card slot... hybrid only
Top & bottom bezels a little large
No OS availability beyond Android 9
4K screen OTT... used 3rd party to decrease resolution

After 2 years of use, it dies suddenly, but luckily it was under warranty so they gave me a new identical XZ Premium phone.
Guess what? 3 years and it's still fault-free. Yes it's slow, but probably due to me not emptying its storage or formatting it.
Overall I can say that, apart from one failure. Sony Xperia XZ Premium has been standing strong for more than five years. Absolutely well done SONY! I'll be a loyal customer forever.

My XZ Premium (SO-04J) doesn't run 4K HDR playback in YouTube, it runs on 1080p HDR, while even my other 1080p display phones can. Why?

Hi all, I know that this is not the place to ask but is there a way to set "Bootloader unlock allowed" from "No" to "Yes" on a Xperia XZ Premium Docomo (SO-04J)? I've tried using adb fastboot and entering the unlock key using the IMEI but it doesn't work. I've also use flashtool but it doesn't gives me permission... Reason to do so is to unlock the bootloader and flash a new ROM (Lineage OS) because the phone is slightly outdated xD. Really appreciate the help and thank you in advance :3

Prashant, 24 Nov 2022Companies always exaggerate when marketing their products, ... moreYou are going farther & farther to the topic at hand & is now going towards fanboyism? Just proves you are hysterical indeed.
No point arguing with someone like yourself when there are alot who already explained beforehand of whether its displaying 4k, not to mention a 5 year old phone that is already out of production.
Just search it on the world wide web, Im pretty sure in that 5 year there'll be alot about it popping up or even goto xda forums.
