In one year it becomes completely inoperable as a phone: both microphone and sound dynamic stopped working, so service center's resolution was to replace motherboard.
So instead of cell phone I've got a tab of 6'' diagonal without sound features (just bluetooth connect sound speaker still works).
It's a shame for Sony to produce phone that becomes out of order in a year.

Have that phone for 5 years now.
Had many Xperias (P, Z2, M5), the XZ Premium, from far is the best, still fully functionnal, better than my actual professional SAMSUNG A50 crap.
Restarts sometimes for no reason, the only problem, ever. Camera, amazing. Fast at everything, still up to date, solid and scratch resistant.
I'm about to change for a Xperia 1 II, no fear that it will meet it's little brother the XZ.

Then I buy ... moreBecause in Japan there are secondhand market, so the thrown away phone from japan people because they upgrade to newer series since japan cellphone market based on contract is collected into one store and sold in very cheap price
You may say the price 799USD but since the phone was in contract maybe they were not paid directly 799USD but monthly payment and after some times they can upgrade it to newer series
So there will be no counterfeit phone since it is from Japan secondhand market, and if you say refurb? Not all seller will refurb it due to money and hard to find the spare parts

In 2017 Ago, the xz premium launch around $799. Then I buy in 2022, the price is super drop around $87. second hand, but is genuine parts. Then I test the display and still 4k resolution.

I am still daily driving mine, although after 5 years the default microphone has started dying on me. Sometimes I have to take calls over loudspeaker. Otherwise, the phone is still great and smooth compared to modern phones. Looking to upgrade to a 1 iv soon, but this has been by far my longest lasting phone. It will be a great fallback phone to have when I eventually upgrade from it.

I've installed Lineage OS and its awesome.
This phone is much faster than my Samsung A72 and battery is 96% after 4years.. Awesome

From my point, it's only for bragging rights. Sony was like "we got this and you don't".

The only way i can see that res being viable is VR, and no one uses VR on their phones anymore. Companies are sticking to 2K max for a reason

Had this thing since it came out and I've clumsily dropped it hundreds of times on hard surfaces with no case and it still works and looks good other than some small dents on the corners. Really sturdy phone

'No one' can beat pixel density and display resolution of this xzp, even s22 ultra, 1 iv, and ip 13 pm.
Anyone can mention mobile unit that can beat this resolution?! (Pixel density of course the highest now)

The new mark 1 doesn't have a 4k display of 3840x 2160 pixels, because it's a 20:9 display. Effectively cutting a lot of pixels from the 2160, to get to that screen ratio.

I have been using this dream piece of wonder since first day it was out. My smart phone was wLumia920 after switiching to this master piece of sony brand only changed the battery once plus some minor shedding of the skin. I feels like it can still go for another 5 years.
