Specs and size are spot on for me. 1 last question though: how good is Sony with call quality? I'm leaning towards the z1 compact but if call quality is not reliable I'm considering the Moto X.

And about viewing angle my Xperia Z1 f is great and for oudoor usage It's good enough. And about battery performance is not bad.

For instance, I'm looking for high end pocket-friendly smart phone so this is the best choice for me. Note 3 is awesome but it's big as brick. If size is not important Z1 Compact is not a deal for you.

I have the Japanese Z1 f (compact for Japan released a month ago). It is fantastic and the battery life is great, but when I play FF6, it heats up like crazy and battery drain is fierce. Other games not at all (must be something on SquareEnix side).
Came from a GS4 which I loved, was worried the smaller screen would annoy me, but I am doing fine with it. It is running 4.2.2 in Japan which is unacceptable if you ask me, but still smooth, snappy and lag free.

I hope there will still be an alternative like buying a HK or international version which can work with china unicom when they have 4G released

One could argue that China Mobile has probably committed themself to buy a very huge number of iPhones over the next two years and possible dont want Z1C to make it harder to fulfill the contract they signed with Apple.

Kris, 20 Jan 2014For just 50 euro more you get a phone you can´t put i... moreYeah nice size for everyday use, not long ago i would have said i didnt need smaller phone but that was before my Xperia Z was broken while in pocket. In all fairness, it was during quite heavy activity and even a smaller phone could have said its final goodbye on that day. Anyway i already started to go down in size a year ago, had Note 2 and liked it at first but soon became fed up with its size, low PPI display and bloatware and "features" that didnt work as they should, Samsung is implementing so much but never follow through, the opposite of Apple in that way.
Was real good to have the "small" Xperia Z after the Note 2, and now im ready to go down in size once again, its only the relatively low PPI of the Compact that is subpar for 2014, or even 2013 but it has 70% higher density than Note 2 (PPI Squared), thats not low enough to be annoying.
I even considered iPhone5s but as for being pocketable it isnt short enough to have any advantage, its almost as long as Z1C, and i think 5S isnt yet available unlocked here, still have carrier exclusivity. Apple always punish people with cash, they prefer the poor buyers who have to buy their iphone sim locked with 2 year contract, thats why i always said iPhone is for the poor, by the time it can be bought unlocked cash straight up it is already old and boring.

in China it is called M51w ; it seems it doesn't have LTE and it cost 3999CNY (about 490euros/660 USD).
China unicom will offer soon FDD-LTE 4G network. Is the european version of Z1compact compatible with china unicom FDD LTE ?
Will sony make a TD-LTE (china mobile) version as they did for Z1 ?

agm21, 19 Jan 2014hope this great phone will be release here in the philippin... more20,000 php? For a flagship grade phone? Even 25 is unthinkable at launch (unless launch is in April), but should drop soon to that level. Estimate an SRP of around 30,000 at launch, with discounts it should come down to around 28, thats already a good price for this.

Don't be stupid, don't get tricked by Samsung's marketing.
