Very durable, dropped it into water several times, on the ground also, still working fine, and after 4 years it still keeps up.

Bought it in 2014. Still works great today after 4 years. Very durable battery if you're not on the phone all the time. I have to chrage battery only after 3 or 4 days.

I bought this phone in April 2014. after almost 16 months battery died and dropped from 80% to 0%. I replaced battery and works perfectly. After next 17 months battery died again. Great smartphone but battery problem is chronic. Battery lives only 17 months. In result of this smartphone is perfect and still working with Google Play and apps.

4 years of usage. Bought new battery from Aliexpress and replaced it after 2 years. Exceptional phone!

the phone works perfectly after 4 years of use, but as always with this type of batteries it did not lasts long-the battery failed only after two years of use and i have to connect the phone to the charger permanently in order to use it,otherwise the phone shut itself automatically.

Been using this phone for almost 2 years. Great phone at the time. I had no complaints with performance.
I change it because I wanted bigger screen.

Been using this phone for almost exactly 4 years, but now the battery finally died and I will have to replace it. For 350€ this phone lasted me very long and except for the weak battery it still performed just fine.

Have this phone for over 3 years now.
Battery died before warranty was over (before 2 years of use) and was replaced for free in the place i bought it.
Battery life is acceptable but phone is becoming kinda slow nowadays. I have to perform a factory reset every 5, 6 months in order to keep it clean and running smoothly.
The real downside with this phone is costumer service. At least in Portugal, I couldn't reach a single Sony authorized dealer in order to fix issues or even buy accessories (I had to buy the "original" magnetic charger via a third party vendor in ebay), which is a shame from a supposedly Premium Phone Company.
I don't regret buying it, but for the price i paid back in 2015 (315€, in sale), I was expecting a lot more.
For today everyday use, forget it, unless it's given to you free of charge.

Yes it takes very decent photos when u select manual option. U have to play with it a bit and final result is reliant to lightning conditions and your patience in setting the right numbers. Intelligent auto sucks. It takes images only in 8Mpx and most of the images are overexposed.
I'm proud user of my Z1 compact for almost three years. And it's great device even 4 years after it's release. Everything is smooth. Just changed my battery 6 months ago. It's not waterproof anymore and I have to be little patient during the manual mode as mentioned above. But I would buy it even today for a good price. Don't get why Sony stopped their support at Lollipop.

I am using this phone for full 3 years now. Replaced battery myself 1.5 years ago (ordered from Ebay with water-seal strip for back cover). Never had overheating issues and I always charge it on some cool metal surface (washing machine, PC case etc.) so that battery stays under 30C. Aluminum sturdy frame is a huge plus!
Will buy X Compact shortly - faster, little larger screen and much better under sunlight, better battery and Android 8 Oreo support.
Z1 Compact will be a great and reliable backup phone.
